Moving to the UK

If I was moving to a new country without any preference on city or region then logically I would look at where the industry I work in is most concentrated. No point moving somewhere if you later struggle to find employment.

In case your friend is lucky enough to not have the employment concern then he has to think what lifestyle requirements does he have.

For city living Bristol has a lot to offer. Likewise, Manchester.

There is no reason on God's Earth to go anywhere near Birmingham!

God thoughtfully placed Birmingham, in the middle of the island of Gt Britain, far away from all of the nice places. (Such as Dorset)

He even gave them a depressing, whining, Brummie accent to express the dispair one feels as the train pulls in to New Street Station.🙁

Here is a picture of my Dad's lovely old Omega Speedmaster 105.012-65, just to cheer you up after looking at that photograph of Birmingham .

Not sure Dorset is a good idea unless the person in question is already endowed with 6 fingers and webbed feet. 😉

B R I S T O L 👍

A city with a vibe like no other, within easy reach of both London and some of the best coastal areas in the country, I’m proud to call it my home and I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

I have a friend who is migrating to the UK next year and was asking me what are some good states to move to? He’s debating to head into Birmingham temporarily, the situation in Hong Kong is getting bad from China that the UK is welcoming them, he knows London is out window, but anything input or advice would help, thanks!

Birmingham and London are worst places. South West of U.K. is best.

I'm gonna say the North East because I live there I live in between Durham / Sunderland I work in Newcastle there's China Town there in the city centre, county Durham is a lovely place history, friendly people, countryside, Sunderland Town centre no! It's cold in the winter yeah nights out the big market in Newcastle it's a eye opener definitely. Durham City centre for a quiet night out for food and drinks. 👍

I agree Durham is a lovely picturesque place but it’s also very small and there is therefore a relatively large population of (posh) students…

This is very true. My mate drove down from Surrey last week. I took him to the Castle Inn, in West Lulworth.

Lovely little Dorset village Gav... 700 people and 2 surnames! 😀

Yes exactly 😀. Will be in Swanage next week with the family so will get to meet the locals myself. God help me with my whiny Brummie accent

Absolutely! I agree! I love Bristol. I can't think why all the tourist drive down the M4 and stop at Bath Spa.😕

Bristol is a fine historic city, with a wonderful vibe! Tourists are welcome and can join in with local customs, such as "let's all throw a statue in the dock" 😁

Ahh... Worth Matravers Gav. Lovely little pub. Also, don't forget to have a cup of tea up at Durston Head.

Wow! Things must be much worse than I imagined if this disaster zone is an attractive alternative proposition. Speaking as a Londoner, I would say to your friend, go to Scotland. It's beautiful, and even if you're in a city the countryside is always a spit away. It also benefits from being the last bastion of resistance against the most corrupt government in the west.

All very true mate.... but speaking as an Irish/Scottish bloke (from London) he will need to wrap his frost bitten scrotum up in a wooly old sporran!

I’m sure they had their reasons.
