Seller does not appear to be a professional seller, or even a frequent seller. Has no more than one feedback per year, and not all watches - what does he care about some watch dealer’s grumbling or blacklist?

For another 30k (or so) I would not be bothered. Would be fun if it shows up at an auction in 3 months

What a rollercoaster this auction, especially now that it has been cancelled. Wonder where it would pop up.

He may also have had French dealers contacting him and offering the same amount, but without the language barrier —and dangling the prospect of not paying Ebay commissions.

Something like that. Think he knows there was a better deal to do.

In my opinion the seller put the watch for sale thinking in a much lower auction result. Then when the auction skyrocketed he figured out that the watch might be more valuable than he anticipated and canceled the sale. I sincerely don't know if it is worth it... even after fees it is still an unexpected and somewhat considerable amount of money

Seems likely, though just as point of reference, @t_swiss_t knows as much about Movado M90s/M95s as anyone, and already noted that recent examples went for far more than this. The buyer who got screwed out of the watch certainly knows what he's doing, as does the underbidder. A considerable sum of money, absolutely, but this was bid on by people who absolutely know the market.

Well that was an interesting rabbit hole. Follow the threads linked here and in the other threads and you will no doubt learn something.

Well a hard lesson for the seller I guess. Considering eBay only charges 6% ( last I remember?), that’s a significantly lower return !

Thanks for the update. I guess the market has soften from Aug to Nov. Bad timing on the seller's part. He timed the top and decided to get greedy.
