Buying the seller is just as important, if not more important than the watch itself when it comes to vintage pieces.

Looks nice, and priced accordingly. Case looks sharp, lovely dial, plus the bracelet. Menta a pretty well known dealer.

My two experiences with Menta were both poor, the second one poor enough that I will not deal with them again

Good to know. They often have nice pieces, but I've never done business with them.

Menta bought several watches from me through eBay. No problems except for a cancellation, though I have always wondered why they never dealt with me directly on my website vs paying the 13% paypal + ebay commissions, especially when the watches are for resale.

Truth. I’m sure he’s had many of good transactions, but he’s happy to take advantage when he can and can be quite un-gentlemanly!

There's another thread aside from the "ruined collection" thread?

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/opinion-wanted-on-watch-sale-return.59990/

Here’s the old thread. Basically I sold them a watch that I advertised as functioning but with no known service history, when they received the watch they told me it was all good, weeks (months?) later they message me that the mainspring is broken and the watch doesn’t function ( which would obviously be immediately apparent upon delivery if they received it that way), and when I tried to discuss this with them they became rude and belligerent very quickly. All this after I had bought a watch from them, which was running but just barely and obviously needed a service. So they have no problem selling a watch that needs service but they get very angry when they buy a watch that needs service after they have owned it for a long period of time.

And I remember they were trying to sell a “prototype” UG chrono for 30+k with a dial that had just been bought off chrono24 for $1,000 or something like that. That was a good thread

I’ve had so many good transactions with such many collectors and dealers that all this was enough for Menta to go on my no-fly list
