I think it fits here as the dials (small dial around 30-33mm) are similar to UG. For sure the watch is in very very good condition and all original/matching. What happened here? Did I miss something? Starting price was 500eur and 6 different bidders https://www.ebay.com/itm/2760073171...55-0&campid=5338722076&customid=&toolid=10050Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Looks like two of the bidders are possibly shills. But still, two people with substantial history went very high. That's a big number, it will be interesting to see if the sale goes through.
I am a bit puzzled. Also I don't know much about Movado prices. In my opinion the seller was surprised as well considering the amateurish pictures and description he used for the ad.
Posted this already in the - you wont believe it - Movado M90/95 thread.... https://omegaforums.net/threads/movado-m90-95-thread.109322/page-13#post-2225503 [posted it last week already but removed it upon request and added it back today] Price is high. I'd expected it to end between 20 and 30k. Closest comparable is https://www.phillips.com/detail/movado/CH080016/5 but that has - imho - a less attractive dial
A seller with a terrible recent eBay rating, holding an auction, in which buyers with no history drive up the price to an absurd amount leaving, at the end, a seller with over 1k feedbacks win the item. Seems almost a joke
Not a joke. Not shills. I know the two high bidders, both serious collectors. The last few black 19008s have sold for 80k+. The main reason it didn’t go higher is because you couldn’t bid unless you were in France due to the sellers shipping restriction on the listing.
so it didn't. The rantings of the winning bidder are all over insta. I suppose the surprised seller finally did some homework and realized it was worth a lot more?
i would be really pissed too if I was the winning bidder. 46K euro refund via paypal !! maybe credit card was used? do you even recover 100% of your funds, or are there some charges along the way?
Funny that an experienced high-end dealer would make such a fuss about it publicly, including vague threats to someone who may have bought it outside of eBay. It's annoying, but this happens all the time on eBay. And honestly, that's exactly what dealers always do to each other (and to us private buyers) anyway. On a few occasions, I've had a deal arranged to buy a watch, and a dealer swooped and and "stole" it, for the same price or even less, by convincing the naive seller that it's better to sell to a dealer. I'd prefer to see more professional and mature behavior from someone who deals in high-end watches, but I guess social media often brings out the worst in people.
I hear you. I would be pissed but I don't know if I would make a public fuss PS I don't know anything about the watch or what it may or may not be worth, I'm just looking at it as a high dollar transaction on ebay
