·... and bought a new shiny bauble, pic here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/arr...y-recently-watches.8930/page-640#post-1222596
As rumored, prices did go up today, my $4850 Seamaster is now $5200 on the Omega US web site. So, a bit more than a 7% increase.
I was trying to get a deal from a grey market/reseller, but no one could produce a blue one and in several cases my emails went unanswered. I decided that paying a bit more for piece of mind (a real warranty) and supporting my local business was worth it.
As usual, the guy I had dealt with at the store was on vacation yesterday, so I bought it from whoever answered the phone, as I called before I went over. She offered to size it for me, and so I said "let's put the adjustment in the middle first". She didn't know what I meant, so I had to show her. "Oh, I learned something new today!" she said. Oy, another salesperson who doesn't know the product very well. Then she wanted my phone number, which I typically don't like to share. I asked why. She said, "to call you when the watch is ready. We have to send it downstairs," presumably to another store in the mall to have it sized. I told her "never mind, I'll do it myself" which I did last night.
Don't ask me about the 30 minutes I spent searching for the little screw that I dropped.
