Not a bad article, it fairly captured the enduring appeal of the Speedmaster.

Omega have done an outstanding job hyping the release of the two 50th Anniversary Speedmasters with lots of articles being placed in well known publications in addition to a steady stream of posts in their social channels. With the 1014 in gold and 6969 in steel/gold allocated to prepaid or deposit-made customers patiently awaiting delivery, why does this behavior continue? Could there be some other Apollo-related watch announcements on the horizon? Otherwise, why bother? Wouldn't they be better served to focus marketing efforts on selling out other models?

I've been thinking about this and come to the conclusion it's general brand awareness they are driving and even with the price delta I assume the margin on the stardard pro exceeds the anniversary edition. Also how many non WIS will walk in to buy the LE and when find them all gone walk out with shiny new pro - my
    Guess is a lot
