Misaligned Hour Hand on my SMP?

I was checking my watches to see if everything aligned correctly at 6' o'clock. My cheaper Seiko's all aligned perfectly. Surprisingly, it was my most expensive watch, the SMPc that did not align correctly. The hour hand is slightly to the right of the 6' marker.

I still have it under factory warranty. Would this be something that Omega can fix easily under warranty? Or should I leave as is?

Wouldn't bother me. Anytime you open a watch you have the opportunity for other issues to arise...dust, nicks, scratches, WR issues. Other than at 6 o'clock, and maybe 12 o'clock, would you have any idea that the hand was slightly off if you glanced at the dial? Most likely not.

Honestly it would bother me but I'd probably wait until as close to my warranty was coming up to have it fixed.

Is it misaligned when the crown is pushed in and screwed down?

Smart idea, I still have about 2.5 years years left of warranty. I might send it towards the end of warranty.

People who look for problems will typically find one.
That's my $0.02 and I'd personally leave it alone.

At least it has its own person character but yes now you know, you will keep looking for it.

Omega tolerance is 2 minutes on each side for the hour hand to hit the marker.

It's under warranty and should be serviced in three weeks or less. If you can live without it for that long, go for it. You've got other watches to keep you company in the meantime.

In order to gauge how far out the alignment is, set the time to 12 noon, and make sure the hour hand is perfectly aligned with the 12 marker, then take a photo of how many minutes off the the minute hand is.

Tried my best for it be perfectly aligned with the 12 marker. According to my eyes, with the hands aligned at 12, the alignment looks perfect. Only at 6 o'clock does it look off.

I do still think the hour hand may need to come a little further around the dial, but even so it does look very close at 12.

So now repeat for 3, 6, and 9.

Note that a warranty issue - if this really is one on a second hand watch - will not mean it gets serviced. It means that it will be opened up and the hands aligned.

Personally, I would wait until it was time for a regular service or book a full service if it was time for that now.

3 & 9 look aligned from the looks of it.

Consider that your private Easter egg! Love it for its quirk. Although I own a seamaster 2538.20.00, I bought a 2 hand panerai because I knew it woul never let me down say to day. It’s an 8 day, so after 3 or 4 days, I can see deviations but it’s still awesome, just like my seamaster!

I think you are obsessing over a trivial thing. And would Omega even consider this a defect or a warrantable item? It's a man made object with moving parts, it will never be perfect no matter what we wish. The dial may be slightly off, so would a new dial be any better? Maybe, maybe not.
