The Genta Disneys were never particularly cheap, I bought the very first steel classic design Mickey with mother-of-pearl dial in 1998 and paid $2,600 from an AD and that was with a 20% discount. They had a reasonably finished ETA 2892 automatic movement, but nothing extraordinary. Enjoyed it for many years and sold it at auction in 2014 where the hammer price was $5,200 but it included the leather coral-color Genta/Disney box and all papers, a complete set in mint condition. With premium the buyer paid somewhere close to $6,000 so I was happy. Genta made a fair number of these watches over the years in all kinds of configurations including gold, steel, quartz and automatic, but surprisingly you don't see a lot of them on the market. Before I put mine to auction I tried to sell it privately at a price not much higher than what I paid but no one was really interested, a tire kicker or two but mostly crickets. But maybe they have become a hot property now. Nostalgia is big thing, maybe techy millennials are buying them.
