Hi everyone, My dad was thinking of visiting India later this year for orthopaedic care, as the treatment there is quite cheap. We did find apollo hospital in Delhi is quite good. Does anyone have any prior experience over there? I'm a little unsure of the process. I have a few questions. Which cities or hospitals would you recommend for good-quality treatment? Is there any paperwork necessary? Also, he'd love to do some sightseeing as well. He has Taj Mahal in mind. Any other recommended place?

Yea I went to that hospital you mention, Apollo Hospital in Delhi for a knee reconstruction, while I was under anaesthetic the team at Apollo Hospital in Delhi took selfies with my ugly looking feet which they posted to social media and removed one of my kidneys, which they presumably sold on the black market. I still have the bad knee. 0/5 stars, wouldn’t use Apollo Hospital in Delhi ever again.

Where the heck are you mate?
If you're in Bangladesh or Sudan, it's probably an option.
Otherwise........

But your good knee, where they actually (mistakenly) replaced all the bits with titanium, works like a Swiss watch no doubt.

The Apollo hospital has an excellent weight loss program not only will you be @ 1 kidney lighter but after one look at the food they serve the patients, you will probably refrain from eating for the duration of your stay, or if you do eat the hospital food you could loose even more weight and develop the ability to be able to shit through the eye of a needle at 30 paces......you'll be getting plenty of practice, so much in fact that your arsehole will feel like the burning ring of fire!

It sounds like they accept body parts in lieu of Blue Cross Blue Shield. 😲

Then that’s pretty much the street where everyone else shits…..

I had to have treatment for a burst eardrum in Goa, Doc was very good and gave me more meds than they allow in the UK, no complaints
A different trip but I needed an emergency tooth repair in Goa. Dentist was top notch / easy to get an appointment and he had trained in London.

well, dental care is the only medical procedure I would risk doing abroad for significant savings. For example, many Greek people go to Bulgaria and they are quite happy with the work provided. There is always risk, but that is why you need to do proper research beforehand.
Ditto Cypriot Greeks going across to Turkish RNC for tooth care. Turkish lira is pretty much in crisis.

It's one thing to have treatment for stuff the goes wrong whilst you happen to be there, but to actually go there to seek out treatment, when the reputation of many of these marketed medi-tourisum deals is pretty poor. It's the sort of territory that attracts the money hungry charlatans and quacks. Short cuts have been known to be taken to save a buck (or a Rupee as the case may be) after all if profit is their motivation?
I guess you have to ask your self what happens if it all turns to shit? And What can you do about it? The problem may not be immediately apparent, it may take time to develop, how do you go about getting that sorted?

My next door neighbour went to Turkey for a hair transplant procedure. Said it was 25% of the cost of having it done here, and that the flight was full of guys with bandaged heads on the way back. He said it was like a well oiled machine how they had places to stay all set up, transport to and from the airport, and to and from the hotel to the place where the work was done - entire trip took 3 days.
