Maybe the sign of the current climate

Went food shopping last night, popped into the local M&S for some veggie Percy Pigs, spotted a gut at the checkout wearing a white dial PloProf. Instantly caught my eye, kept my distance and commented, wow you don't see many of those, nice watch.

He looked at me like I was the grim reaper. Could maybe understand if a Rolex and I mentioned nice watch (fear of being stolen). But you really need to be a watch guy to know what one of them is! I then added after he was backing off saying 'that is the reason I bought it' I have a Panerai one of the reasons I purchased that. Guess didn't help I was wearing my BB58.

Just thought a slightly funny tale in the climate

Meanwhile, some watch collectors complain that no one ever notices their watches. I think it was generous of you to make the effort to comment on the guy's watch. It goes to show that there's a thin line between social distancing and just being anti-social.

I love my Percies although the move towards vegan gummies, with their radically reduced chew and vaguely mineral aftertaste, has reduced our average M&S spend by a good 5% month on month. But your Ploprof-wearing cashier has made me reevaluate my shopping habits, and I shall now inspect the wrists of all those personning the tills at our tonier grocers. I've never seen a Pro IRL -- perhaps this my chance. Off shortly to pick up some Raspberry Royales, and will add a few packets of PPs and perhaps some fruit pastilles in the hopes of spotting a sharp watch.

Aah..: you should’ve offered a swap for a 12 pack of Andrex..

I was buying bread and vitamins at my neighborhood stores wearing my BB58. In the midst of social distancing and stay away era, I no longer notice the watch being worn by other “ look harass” shoppers. Just buy the stuff and get out as soon as possible. Probably the sign of the times.
