I have never understood, and I don't think I ever will - the idea of "big wrist presence" and the preference for thicker watches. For hundreds of years,.

Is this a geriatric department ?? Eveolution stops with you as you want the same thing over and over ?? Houses got bigger, cars did too etc so go outside a little more and see the changes my friend !! I didnt say Big presence did i now ? It is still a small watch at 39mm for a chronograph but with the domed crystal still has ENOUGH presence . Big guys can wear bigger watches but i am downsizing now as i use to prefer 41/42 mm which was pretty much a standard size in the last 2 decades.

Don't feed the troll.
I am the watch owner and defending my case, so name calling is uncalled for Carlton , and if Zapatta wants a snack, let him 😉

What’s the case to defend ?

You like the watch. Some others probably agree and some others posting here don’t. There is no right or wrong to defend, this is all just personal opinions and preferences.

I'm just here watching discussion between owners of original iconic piece and overpriced homage. 🍿

Opposites attract as they say, but the 2 originals on Chrono24 are at + 20K if you want to talk overpriced 😁 . The reedition is at least obtainable for a fair price and in a better size as well. And with lume ! So i am happy with a watch i can actualy wear and it will not deteriorate in a safe, to be cherished on Sunday`s only. Again, no one here owns the UG legacy so accept that a nice watch was brought back to life again and may even keep interest up for this brand. Which will probably raise the value of your pieces too so we have a win-win here !
😀
And with this investment into support of the UG brand i wish you all a happy day !

I’m not sure it’ll put upwards price pressure on vintage UG, although perhaps it’s unknowingly been the sales of Steinhart homages that has been the primary reason for the explosion in vintage submariner values. Either way I’m not sure prices increases are a win.

This is what is known as "misinformation". As in, it is incorrect and you are misinformed. I am guessing most of the known white dial Big Eyes are in fact represented in this forum

The Massena is a straight rip off of a classic watch. Make a few design changes put an M on it and it would have been quite well respected in OF and elsewhere.

Its surprising to me he didn't go that route since his other work is quite good and much more along those lines....

And perfectly executed by the looks of it ! . Yours need some service by the look of the corroding hands, something i dont have to worry about as the quality is much better due to modern production etc. As i remember from the Omega 1957 trilogy, it took them years to copy their own watches so it must be quiet difficult and compliments for the new execution !! So your view is based on some misguided believe of moral ownership to protect the UG legacy ? Give me a break ! UG as a brand has been dead for years and there is no copyright on layout of dials. Write to them if you have complaints and step into the 21st century of new watches 😀
Does yours have lume ?
Omega reintroducing their OWN designs (which is probably one of the best heritage lines available) is quite a different thing than FOE-mega introducing the “Thrillogy”. Or, Massena Labs completely copying UG’s timeless design(s) and hyping them as if its the re-birth of UG. Enjoy your watch and don't stop fighting the windmills!

Everone knows that watches with lume = better.

And it's really astonishing that the 50+ year old watches have degraded parts - it must have had them from new 🤦

Yes, in the same way these puppies are keeping Rolex relevant. We must be thankful ML is rescuing UG from oblivion.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, please don’t put Squale in the same group as Steinhart !

You're right. It's best to say that Squale is keeping Steinhart relevant. 😝

Yeah, because that's what UG fans want.

here is my horribly aged, imperfect, beater of a UG. so many imperfections!

maybe, just maybe, if i'm really lucky i'll find an owner of the Uniracer to trade me for their new perfect thicker example straight up. it would be worth it just for better lume
