I think the yachting-look one isn't too bad, maybe could've been more successful if that was the first one they released. But the green looks like it's trying too hard for fauxtina, in a bad way - that white bit to differentiate the first 5 min instead looks like someone had improperly tried to clean an old dial.

This is what happens when you have to purchase minimum runs of things like movements, cases, crystals, etc. Had the 1st abomination been successful, they would have been used-up and probably reordered. Now we’re seeing the creation of more abominations to accomplish the task of getting rid of the parts. Disaster.

J, I have been patiently waiting for an eviscerating reply in this thread from you. Deffo worth the wait, as always.

I think it is quite telling that ALL 5 colors are still available for purchase on Hodinkee, and they must only carry a fraction of the total of 35 pieces.
Typically, any limited edition they have in their shop sells out instantly.

Same thing on Massena Lab... they are not moving.

I have no hatred for the watch itself, and I dig the colorways actually. And sure, it’s a knock off of something legendary- but there are many out there in that category. The issue is the chutzpah to ask $3.5k for it. If the failure to sell the first one didn’t resonate, then these guys are completely tone deaf.

If you take the BLUE pill, you’ll remain rational and buy something vintage, with character and history.

-OR-

Take the RED pill, and you’ll shell out $3500 for a piece worth $350..........

I wonder what the "young Massena" from the Timezone era would write about the "old Massena" of Massena Labs... 😗
