Mark 2 Speedmaster: Bracelet or Strap?

Given the steel substantiveness of the case, I feel only an original bracelet completes the look. Just my two cents…

That's odd of thing. By the time the Mark II came along, there were more options. Even though many were sold with an 1162 or an 1159, many didn't have a bracelet and dealers put whatever they had on them, or whatever the buyer requested.

There are several on here that where bought new, particularly in the latter time frame, that were not on either of the main options. There are ones that came with 1171 and various other options that were to hand

It may be why you don't see people sticking so rigidly to what's perceived as OEM for this mark..

That colour is beautiful. I just love how this case lends itself to so many 'looks' depending on the strap. I'm just loving notched straps on the case at the moment.. cheers
I wear mine mostly on the bracelet, but also a Corrigia Strap suits well in my opinion.

True that. Here's a pick of the original bracelet. I swap it on when I want to feel a bit jangly. But now it's worth a mint and I try to look after it.

If I'm being honest, I think these look best on a bracelet. I feel like it balances out then heft of the case.

I never used to really like these types of cases with covered lugs, but they have been growing on me lately. I think if I just see something enough times on OF I eventually start to enjoy it. 😀

I never owned a Mark II but I once had a Mark 4.5 (God I miss this watch!). And while I wore it mostly on its bracelet, I experimented with a few straps. The only one I liked was Di-Modell's Chronissimo thanks to it having notches and being wider than the lugs.

I reckon you would achieve the same effect on a Mark II.

Oh nice, this is the picture that I needed to order this strap. Thanks

I'm glad I could be of assistance.

The Chronissimo strap is great, and I currently have it mounted on my Lemania 11004 chronograph.

Hi. Consider that some of the early bracelet links extended past the lug width to the corners of the case. In effect, a corner notched bracelet. See my earlier pic of a 69/70 holzer j/m
