examples like my 18k 14382 deluxe below - but expect to pay handsomely for a good example
Thanks for the insights on Constellations! I’ll keep an open mind. Your gold deluxe is stunning!

If you're open to redials, collectionwatches on eBay regularly sells 60s DeVilles "professionally redone Omega facory original" dials...😀
Thanks! I think I am open to quality work, even if not original. I’ll see if I can find some of their listings.

Thanks for the reply, and your analogy of vintage cars to vintage watches is absolutely perfect! Both have a wide spectrum from rusty heaps to low mile originals, and many restorations of different quality levels, some of which were done with what appears to be intent to commit fraud...

My car was repainted by a PO, and it went from yellow to red. For some, that would be a major concern. But it was a decent job, and few can tell. But knowledgeable people know where to look and can tell very quickly. It must be the same here for Omegas.
And since it was requested, here’s a couple of photos. Hope that’s not too much of an issue. (You might notice an affinity for black dials)

Lovely!

So I searched for the seller, and found he has posted what appears to be nice watches. This one in particular caught my attention. I was wondering what people thought of it? What am I missing?

The truly stupid prices people pay for this sellers Don Draper syndrome black redialed watches.

Not sure of a single member here that is glad they bought a redialed watch.

Do you know that Smiths also do watches? This would complement the dials on your etype nicely,
A quick search on Google shows one for sale on eBay, I can't claim any knowledge as to authenticity, correctness etc, just thought you might like to know they exist.
Beautiful car by the way.

Another one here, again no claim as to authenticity as I know nothing about these, just to show availability

The popularity of "Mad Men" has the value of already-scarce black dial steel case DeVilles from the 60s soaring through the roof, so you'll see a lot of redials on the market, and you can expect to pay a premium for all-original examples. If I had an E-type though, I'd be looking for a chronograph like this 1960 Omega:

or perhaps a more recent Bremont:

There seems to be a huge overlap between lovers of vintage cars and lovers of vintage watches!
True. I got a classic toyota yaris as my city driver. A true classic. I call him 'The silver bullet'. And that's not it. I got a volvo v60 as well. A true chick magnet with the dog fence behind. Window open, watch outside and Wham on the radio. Yeah.

The dial is refinished. Also, the case is stainless. I thought you wanted gold.

Yes, thanks! I was aware that Smiths also had a watch line, and would definitely complement the E, but for some reason the Omega has my attention. Perhaps they are more elegant?

Thanks, yes I understood the dial was redone, but it looked like a decent job?? And you’re absolutely correct I want gold, but was trying to get some insights on to a dial being redone... my apologies for the confusion

Indeed, the old Omegas are very elegant, I can see where you are coming from. I am lucky to have recently come to own a pair on 60's Constellations.

What do you want to know about the dial being redone? It's redone. What else is there to know? Buy or don't buy, it's up to you. But if you're going to continue to ask about re-dialed watches, I suspect that you're not going to get much feedback from experienced members. For the most part, we avoid them. For me, it would be a total dealbreaker and I wouldn't look any further.

While I'm giving my subjective opinion, I'll add that I wouldn't consider a gold-plated or gold-filled watch for a purchase intended to commemorate a major life event.

I totally agree, but how much time, patience and tenacity does one have to expend before a correct example presents itself at a reasonable price? I spent over a year persistently searching for one only to have it snatched from under my nose because I stupidly tried to haggle over the asking price. Unlike most of us, these buyers aren't concerned about the watch's pedigree as much as just about everyone else who'll see this on their wrist and think how cool it looks.
