Man, those mods are tough-only one?!?! Well, then this: Courtesy of Dablitzer... Funny thing about this thread, many of these pieces have traded hands (wrists??) within the OF...good sign for the health of the forum and speaks to the trusted sellers! Happy Holidays all!!
I think I could have put the same watch in both the best and worst buy topics - I picked up a watch that filled a couple of my aching needs described as oiled and regulated, but was totally without lubrication, had a broken pallet fork and has been with Archer since August as he tries to get it running properly. So I'll fall back on my great white - I spent six months looking after turning one down in December 2012 and nearly pulled the trigger on several, then this one turned up cheaper and freshly serviced... Yesterday we had a 18 hour power cut due to local flooding and the lume was very helpful as I was trying to track how long we'd been off for.
I purchased so many vintage watches in 2013, but one of my favorites is this one.... But don`t tell it to my other watches! Each one is very jealous Happy New Year 2014
Well, 3 entries this year, and 3 departures! Here are this year's entries: In the Spring: Eberhard Contograf 1965 in July: Tudor Submariner 7928 PCG SWISS Tropical 1964 In December: JLC Polaris 68 updating my wishlist for 2014!... Matt
Hi Nice Seamaster chronometre what is the case diameter? 35 or 36.5 mm not counting crown. I have one somewhere but I thought mine was a waterproof snapback... at I think 36.5 mm in diameter would classify as a "jumbo" Seamaster chronometre ! pretty uncommon in my book !! Good GRAB ! Good Hunting bill Sohne
Hi LouS, as usual for watches from the mid 30's they are very small compared to modern standard : 30mm diameter.
This late arrival has changed my assessment of the year's purchases: This picture was pre-cleaning and crystal polishing. Looks even better now. Also was the bargain of the year, too! gatorcpa
One of my best finds for 2013, a Jaeger LeCoultre Geomatic Chronometre, hackset cal K881-G, 23J adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. 36mm case looks/wears larger due to watch having no bezel...dial is about 35mm. Supposedly only 1700 produced in steel early 60's-mid 60's. Interesting that Jaeger LeCoultre made only a few thousand chronometre rated watches.
Well, glad someone else likes it! I was tempted on this one in 18k but had to pass. I just don't wear that much in gold watches, preferring steel. Beautiful, but just not for me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281223611082?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
