Good things come to those who wait.

Now if we could find you a proper 10-sided crown...😉

I think @seekingseaquest has the 4204 crown correct for this model available.

cristos71, yes I was more than a bit surprised the watch was still there and the reason I didn't hesitate the second time to grab it. I'm located in the Twin Cities, MN. Perhaps the pandemic has had something to do with not a lot of eyeballs on it since February.

Caliber561, he's been in touch with me about a crown. I'm interested but he pointed out that there are two different stems and without opening the watch, we can't know for sure which one is correct. I don't have any service history on the watch and would like to have that done (and the crown) if I can find a competent [Omega] watchmaker sometime soon.

There is only one stem but two tube sizes. With this case reference, the small tube and small 10 sided crown is correct.

Update on my Connie and also have a another question . . .

I found a local watchmaker that I think I trust. He opened up the case and we confirmed the reference/movement. Reference is 168.005 and the movement is a 564. I left it with him to give it a service. Last markings in the caseback are from August of 2004. He won't polish it or touch the dial. We talked about replacing the crown (going back to original). He has a stash of NOS Omega crowns but not the one the watch needs (4204?); he said he does have an Omega parts account and will only use Omega parts if the watch needs anything.

On to the question: he has a 1998 Rolex Submariner date (black dial) with the box that appears to be in very good condition. Sorry, no pictures that I can get (yet, I know . . .) but just wondering if I should pursue it, given the current state of the Rolex sports watch market (he said he'd let me have it for $8500). I'm hedging a bit because I have some other purchases pending but could find a way to make it work if it's really worth it.

Thanks,

Difficult evaluation on the Rolex with no pictures.

Post pix of that Omega when you have it in hand.👍

Best I can do on a picture of the actual watch, for now.

I'm at a spot where this is go, no go and not looking even to nitpick it at this point. Is a 1998 vintage piece in decent shape in the neighborhood of $8500 reasonable?

Obviously I don't like the way that Sub has been polished, but the price is probably in the right ballpark. Not a huge bargain. Box doesn't add much value with original warranty papers.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. It's been sitting for a while and it just might a little longer. Perhaps, I can get some more movement on the price. I'm only a mile away from it and it will be easy to keep tabs on.

Rolex dial is too expensive. Unless you have the correct dial-less Sub...... Kind regards. Achim
