@yako54 - I don't know exactly why but it looks very modern. I don't think it would look out of place in a modern display case at an airport today. I notice that about Longines watches up until around the 431 have very clean designs. The 30Ls and 280s are very clean too.

Did anyone pick this one up? Good price.. not sure where to find a case, though. Love that dial.

I did not buy it, but with these kind of orphaned dials and hands, I would say that marriages are more than acceptable.

Speaking from experience? 😁 I recall something with a Valjoux movement...

I agree.

I don’t know if marriages are acceptable with non chronometer movements but I am getting unrepenting enjoyment out of this one. Sorry for the thread hijack.

Adding my Ultra-Chron, a blue version of X350 XJR's silver one up-thread.

I just sent it out for a COA so these pictures (and hand modeling) are actually from Modest_Proposal from whom I acquired the watch here in 2014.

Spotted this vintage Longines ad from a Swiss magazine dating to1948. It states that the Longines movement《33 mm》holds the precision record at the observatories of Neuenburg, Geneva and Teddington. I wonder if anyone has ever seen a manual Longines Chronometer with this particular style of case and dial?

Sorry for all the hair, lint and dust on the black/grey dial watch... (of course the white one has it too but... you know...)

Back to the beginning...
For all of you, like @Tony C. @DirtyDozen12 and @Rumar89 , @JohnSteed @gatorcpa @Andsan @dougiedude @Bill Sohne and the other Longines experts: Many thanks for your interesting researches concerning these early Longines Chronometers shared here on OF. Depends what is meant by "chronometer". As you may know, there are a number of pre-1951 Longines with movements (22N, 23M, 10.68Z, 12.68Z, 25.173, etc.) that are marked "5 ADJ." but they do not appear to have been tested at an observatory.
