A friend of mine just bought this Longines pocket chronograph
with an interesting caseback engreaving. I`m curious if any OF
members seen simular and can help me find more information.

Based on the provonance the watch was used for timing sports
events, and was found in Norway. And if this was in a batch of
200+ there must be others out there. Thank you in advance馃榾

Did you ask Longines themselves?

When I have seen those types of numbers engraved on the backs of "normal" pocket watch cases, they were usually service loaners that stores gave to customers to use while theirs was being repaired and that was its inventory number.

But I am sure that is not the case here, both because of what this is vs a normal pocket watch and because nobody had 200+ loaner watches. So just fun, somewhat useless information, related to but not answering your actual question. (But I would not be surprised if it is an inventory/tracking number of some sort)
