Hi can anyone tell me what is the reference number to the one marked “SS, 35mm”? Is the gold version 22250? Thanks

it looks like a 22250. I'm not sure what you mean by the gold version, but whatever it is, it would not start with a 2 (which means SS), it would start with either a 1 (18K gold) or a 5 (14K gold).

Do you mean a gold spider lugs tri compax similar to the 22250 case? It looks like that would be a 52216. Not sure if there is an 18K version or not, I don't see an 18K example in the archives pics in Sala.

The one I saw had the exact same “sharp down the middle” lugs, but the watch was solid gold (and doesn’t have sword hands; rather, those narrow pin hands). It has the ring around the moonphase and smiling moon guy. A few of the hands are blue; the 31 is red. I looked for a couple hours online but couldn’t find the model number.

Edit: you are correct, it seems to be a 52216. It looked like 14k but I’m not certain. Case looks like this:

I think I have an example that you are describing - here is mine:

As a follow up to the posts above from @southtexas and @rosspo , saw this strong result today at auction - particularly with “non-working pushers” and slight damage to caseback... hope someone here got it, and has a good watchmaker on standby!
Same cool dial, but different case, as one of mine as well!

Darn. I missed this auction. Never even heard of this auction house. Great looking watch!!

That result was high for a small sized example.....and a few costly issues to be addressed!

@Larry S
Are we at 10k for a large SS example with no issues.......or now above?

The spider lugs case is especially nice combination with the art deco numerals dial. Maybe two people really wanted it.

But it is a lot for a non working watch with unknown issues.

9k excluding the 23% buyers premium for a watch with major issues. Pretty insane. I was following the auction hoping for a deal but way out my price range.

Yes … I think we are for collector grade watches. Last few conversations I’ve had regarding them, we certainly are. I’ve paid $10k already for a non working but nice, rare 35mm SS model and that was several years ago. Fortunately $500 set it right.

There’s no doubt that super clean and original examples of 1940s and 1950s Tri are selling in that $10k range these days, even when not oversized. I’ve sold one of mine (35mm) there recently, and been personally involved in helping to facilitate at least two other “arms’ length” transactions between individual buyers and sellers (not dealers). If the quality/condition isn’t quite there, there’s still plenty of demand out there for nice Tri-Compax but the price will be likely be meaningfully lower in my experience. The above example surprised me more than a little bit at that level, particularly in light of the need for service / repair. And the dial is lovely and cool, but not “super clean” in my opinion. Still, hope someone here landed it and we get to see more of it soon!

How far off are the serial numbers?
