Ouch ... this was an exercise I didn't want to do. I began the year selling, but I did not maintain that discipline and I'm currently at a net gain of +9 (22 in, 13 out). So an early New Years resolution will be to sell at least 5.

Here are some of my favorite acquisitions from 2018.

That Doxa...

Finish 2018 with great barn find tudor 94010!
All original and unpolished case. I like when you find watch like this and the crystal is not even polished!

I have a really hard time finding something that sticks. 9 times out of 10, when it is on the wrist, ... meh. I don't think I will keep my Rolex 16570, modern dials don't do it for me, I will probably trade it in January for something like this + some not insignificant money:

It must be the only modernish chrono whose size pleases me. The 1873 inside is tempting.

This one is a keeper for sure:

Just got this one, I have a good feeling about it:

This one must be worked on:

I also have a 168.024 I'm currently restoring...

I found a few others, more for collecting/safekeeping than for wearing regularly.

2018 has been a collecting year full of hard lessons, unexpected luck, and outpouring of gratefulness to everyone and the community here in OF and watch collecting in general.

I focused more into military watches, acquiring four of the 'Dirty Dozen' :

They were joined with a Grana ATP, 'civilian' 6B/159 in a Denisteel case, and a sterile Cortebert:

Two watches made for pilots of airlines also popped up, and were also watches that I had coveted for some time:

Universal Geneves were also a collection focus, and they came in different colours:

From different time periods:

And made with different purposes:

I wish everyone the best of luck and collecting for the rest of the year and beyond!

It’s that time of year again. Time to reflect on all of the crazy ways we spend our money antiquated technology.

Bought this early fall.

My bank account says I’m done for the year but there’s still a few weeks left. 😁

That's the "next year" watch for me. Blue teak dial AT with framed date window at three. I have the opaline dial sister watch. Question is how do I fund it 'cos I'm not ready to release any Omega item. Growth in 2019 then? Ho hum.

Thanks I think. You just made me rethink the whole year. I found OF this year and every time I looked in Private Sales, there will be something at a great price. I am working on the rest of the pictures for this area and will add more soon.

PS: You are 4th on the list for that Bulova.

For me, 2018 was an eventful year.

New additions include the Zenith El Primero, the Seamaster 300 and the 2254. But the most important thing was the revision of my Enicar Jet Graph.

So after sifting through these photos it’s very apparent I don’t make enough money to support the habits of other forum members. Holy smokes there are some serious purchases this year for some.
