Just serviced my ref. 2891-1 from 1956. 35.5mm diameter and 42mm lug to lug. cal. 267 on the inside.

The Crown is original to the watch; but the second hand does not. I let it because it looked so funny....

Maybe a 2791-1? ...a really nice watch anyway!
You mean the one I posted? I'm just repeating what the watchmaker told me, haven't popped it open to look inside. But it fits other 2891-1's I've seen online.

...you got me: I didn't realize that 2791 and 2891 look the same. In my experience, it is rather unusual for Omega to have two identical watches with such different references.

They are almost the same, the differences between the 2791 and the 2891 is that the 2791 was made in 1954-1955, had the 266 movement and had a slightly different caseback bevel design. The 2891 was made in 1955-1956 and is the transitional model between the unmarked Omega's of the 50s and the Seamaster manual wind. The 2891 was the very first manual wind Seamaster case model but came as both unmarked and marked. None of which had the seahorse on the back though.

Thank you!
That sounds plausible. However, I have a 2791 with caliber 267...

Yeah I think there's a bit of overlap with the movements. You find 2791 cases with both of them. I don't think you find 2891s with anything other than the 267 though but honestly who knows.

Edit: You even have a slightly newer 267 than me, mine is serial number 15240448 so our movements were made within ~2300 units of each other.

A great thread / some lovely examples - such an important movement for Omega. Here are my examples.

This Simon Freese video had given me even more insight into the 30mm movement and even greater respect for my 265 👍
