I take it that you wear a pair of these around the house 24/7?

I’m confused. I’m a young guy with small children. Not an old retired guy. 😉

5 new sets here for Christmas. Kids are in full build mode. The technic stuff is really fun. The only set I’ve bought for myself is the Ducati.

@Mad Dog Got a gift for you too. Come on by.
I have this Airbus helicopter as well as the new Eiffel Tower set in my cart on the Lego website…

THAT set is MASSIVE!!!! Not even sure where it would fit in our house…

That is quite the display model. My son got it in his head awhile back that he HAD to have the Titanic set. That was a hard no. So he built this instead.

Last year, my foot caught the edge of a Lego window at just the right angle and tore a surprisingly big gash in my sole. I didn't realize how bad it was for a couple minutes and I left bloody footprints through the living room and up the stairs.

Parenting is quite metal.

On that note, I'm off to build some more Lego Mario kits with my 5-year-old!

He seems to be a professional Lego builder!!! You may get a chance to avoid hefty college tuitions… 🙄

Come on fellas... doesn't anyone just go into their damn garage, drink beer and talk shit about humans while taking the occasional break to chuck a hunting knife at a poster of Justin Bieber and step outside to urinate by the recycle bin anymore?
Ya know, simpler times?
They can (and do) co-exist. in fact, the enjoyment of wrenching is not dissimilar to the enjoyment of completing a 1,000+ piece build. And completing a build is more fulfilling then competing an oil change or rotor replacement ::psy::

No doubt. The former reads better on paper though. 😎

Eh, maybe it's because most of my friends who wrench are Porsche owners and most have Lego Porsches plus other car sets. A surprising number are also sci-fi and space fans, so they also have some Lego sets that reflect that, including some of the Star Wars models. Anyway, my wife cannot afford to buy me a Porsche or Ferrari for xmas, but she can afford to buy me a Lego model of one. 😎

Also, the technic sets are pretty cool with engines that have moving pistons, transmissions/gears, functional suspension, etc. Some (like the Porsche the OP posted) you can put battery packs and motors in and drive around like an RC car. Fun for people who like tiny intricate machines and gear heads alike. 😉

Just to come full circle here I thought I would also post this LEGO horological masterpiece for all to behold. There are tons of convincing redials out there but this one is a rare 100% all original and very collectible.

Incidentally while people talk about Porsche GT cars being a good investment, that orange Lego GT3 RS is the highest appreciating Porsche GT car of all time on a percentage basis, even though it is made of lego. No actual real Porsche has performed as well as the lego set has in investment terms.

Bitcoin and Trump cards fall into the same category: momentum/demand vs. intrinsic value.
I would prefer the legos compared to the others.

Guess who happens to have one of these orange sets in his basement, untouched… and was absolutely gobsmacked when he realized what these sets go for now?!? 🤦

As you wrote, this is likely the closest I will get to owning a GT3 RS for now… 🙄

Well I got sucked back into lego quicker than expected. My birthday was Monday and my middle son bought me the new Lego Galaxy Explorer. He always really liked playing with Legos with me when he was a kid and when he saw this it reminded him of the old sets I have. It has over 1200 parts and took me probably two and a half hours to build.

At the mother-in-laws for Christmas Eve and she is almost done with this.

If you want LEGO addiction, this is it. I think y’all are safe.

Aaah! This is what my room looked like as a kid. We built castles, ships and entire cities! Great times.

Now I’m just waiting for my kids to grow old enough for Lego. Then I have an excuse.
We’ve saved most of the sets as well.

Jokes aside, I'd love a crack at the Lego Star Wars Super Star Destroyer Executor
Haha! This is great! 😁
