Am I the only one who loves symmetry on hand wound watches?

Who else is like me and always lines up the crown horizontally on their Speedy (or other hand wound watch) once fully wound (even if it means going an extra revolution if you missed the position by ONE click)!?

Who else makes sure the minute hand is exactly aligned with the minute marker when the running second hits 60!?!?
At least my Flightmaster 145.013 is a breeze to set as there is NO running sec!! ::bleh::

Am I the only one who loves symmetry so much... or am I just a bit too nutty!? :taunt:::facepalm2::

It’s a bit OCD, but that could be said of the entire hobby. Go with it.

Most people have little foibles that gets them through their stressful day . Mine is not standing on lines on a footpath . This usually means walking with my head down, unevenly measured steps and strange looks from persons passing by. Hey, who cares . If symmetry make you tick go for it.

Can't help be slightly amused that you chose an asymmetric watch case for the example:D

Curiously, the only watch I have which doesn't exhibit any hacking slip (ie, minute hand does not immediately start moving) is my $209 Korean made Tissel Flieger-B (with a Miyoto 9015 movement). It also happens to be my most accurate watch, only gaining 1 second each day. On everything else, I'm having to set the minute hand about 0.2 or 0.3 second head (varies with each watch) on hacking to compensate for the gear slip.

    Of course you are nutty!!!
Welcome to the majority of the watch aficionados!
Seriously though, I thought that the people that do not do it are the nutty ones. Aren’t they?
    Cheers

I don't even set the damn thing and sometimes I even wear it like this:

But I tend to live on the edge...

Hmmm. Makes perfect sense if you are in Australia. By the way, does the water in the toilet actually swirl in reverse down under?

I try to make sure the minute hand is on the marker and second hand is at 60 when I set it (back pressure on the crown to hold the seconds hand while I set the minutes) but I never try to line up the crown.

Yes it would appear to be some kind of 'safety behaviour'. Every time you do it it reinforces the validity of the 'ritual'. To over come this compulsive behaviour, you need to apply some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

My Theory: You line up the watch in symmetrical order to protect yourself because you fear humiliation.
Your Thearapy: You need to risk humiliation by allowing periods of temporary disorder like this.
    20170507_170252-1.jpg

Your first course of CBT is as follows:
    A) Wind the watch and allow the crown to sit in a manner that breaks the symmetry for at least 2 hours, and continue with your day.
    B) Have a pee but avoid putting your knob away after. Try to cope with this disorder. Leave it dangling out of your trousers for at least 1 hour as you continue with your day.

You will find the compulsive need to line up your crown will be eclipsed by the overwhelming compulsion to put your knob away. This is called 'the distraction method.'

    Good Luck with the CBT.:)

Do NOT order anything for home delivery while testing this advice ::facepalm1::

Could be handy though when elections are close and the wannabe politicians are on the doorstep. Unless that one gets elected and remembers you when proposing new legislation about "preverts".
