In typical "me" fashion I bought this watch and would like to get an assessment of what it is and whether it's still original. Keeps good time but small on even my skinny wrist.

That caliber was produced from 1939 to 1949. And the Geiger will get very busy....

Serial number puts this 1943.

Love the 4 and 9.

It’s a nice looking watch, I like the shape of the numerals.
Another thing that’s quite nice is when new members say « please » and « thank you » when they are requesting free information from the forum experts.

As stated above, a R17.8, which later morphed into the 300 and 301. This was commonly used in small rectangular, or tank style watches. The watch you have looks like a small 29-30mm military style watch.

Thanks. I was just googling and
it looks like some were chronometers. Is it less common? I was looking for something to add to the collection from this time period. Is this worthy?

I'm extremely grateful for having found this resource. I'm not knowledgeable on Omegas but I love looking through these questions and waiting for the day when I too will know the answer. Until then I will live vicariously through the questioners and the answerers. Thanks for your help.

I've never seen numbers like that! Some designer was having fun.

Nice piece. Are the numbers brighting? Do they have radium?

I have 1 watch this size that I don’t wear and another that I gave to my daughter. I like them but they wear small - similar to the same era Rolex Victory, Skyrocket and other small military watches of this type. They go really well on a bundt strap. A Rolex Skyrocket or 30mm Solar Aqua is on my wanted list but I am waiting for the right one.

I have 2 radium dial watches from the 1940's that still glow. If the paint wasn't oxidized or damaged by moisture it may still be good. It will be radioactive, regardless.
