This is only true for "younger" SS watches. Older SS ones had case serial## and gold watches had them all.
So with an EoA you know if the movement and case have left the factory united... and so you know a lot...
Ah.. Not that informed then. 馃榾

I just know of the issue for early Speedmasters. Only ones I had extracts ordered for. Thanks for correcting me.

They need the heritage arm to earn some dollars back so they have to bring back the extracts! They only need to issue 25963 extracts to make back their CHF3115500 馃榾

I will 100% say with all conviction, (if Omega continue with the service).
Omega will charge more (more than double)
Change the name of this service (a rebrand)
Change the wording on the certificate to make sure it only covers the movement (to cover themseves)

All they need to do to keep it legit and reputable is report purely what is in the records. Or not, and refuse the request for free. The rest (photos, comments by the sender/auction house) is where the problems start.

Agreed. I've been saying this for a while, that when they started requiring the case reference, and the photos, that it was a bad move. IMO the only really reliable extracts, where there was some certainty that there were no games being played, was the brief time when you could order one just using the serial number. That's what the process was just after they ended the "added comments" portion, and before they started asking for photos front and back. That's what they should go back to.

Although this is stated to be about vintage watches, that doesn't mean really old watches. Any watch with a serial number below 50 million doesn't give any results back on the Omega Extranet when you search for the serial number. There are a number of watches that can be modern frankens (with replaced dials and hands) that can only be verified using the extract process, because their serial numbers are below 50 million. So this service does have significant value to collectors, just for that.

I'd guess this varies depending on which boutique one visits, but last year I requested and received two extracts (in one case, after a lengthy hassle) through my local Omega Boutique in Atlanta. In neither case did I provide a case reference or photos, though I explicitly offered to share both. All that was needed was a movement serial number.

Not really, at least outside of the US where I expect you are. Everyone else in the world can just log into the Omega web site, and do it on line, and there you had no choice but to provide more than the serial number.

I've ordered many extracts for my US clients who didn't have a boutique near them...

Sorry for the repost then. Hopefully my AD is right and it will re-open. I am assuming they need to build a lot of checks and balances in the future to establish credibility again. It will be a long road. My assumption is they are probably reviewing all documents sent out over a specified period of time to fully understand the extent of abuse.

EDIT: expected re-launch confirmed by Omega is Summer 2024 as per Omega Customer Care.

Interesting. Where is it possible to read this? I expect it to be in writing somewhere and not just something said by a sales rep or customer service person. Good news though if it turns out to be true.

Well, that gives me time to budget for a few requests. I know the extracts don't really mean much, but I do enjoy learning what I can about the vintage pieces I own. There were a couple I hadn't gotten around to requesting before the shutdown, and I was worried.
