IWC found in Grandad's junk drawer

Hi everyone,

Bit stuck on this so any help would be appreciated.

When clearing out my late Grandfather's house, I found this IWC watch in the corner of a box full of phone chargers and other odds and ends. I thought this was a great opportunity to research a watch brand, model, and complication I know very little about.

However, the closest model I could find is the IWC GST Perpetual Calendar Ref-3756 which - while similar - is not exactly the same.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this model based on the pictures? Would love to know more about it.

I haven't got the tools with me to open the case back yet, but I will do so when I can.

Here is an image of 3756-11 (Not my picture, found on google search).

Don't think she is going to be an IWC, but its not my favorite to know.

Well it has IWC written (I just realised the hands cover the logo)

if you mean it maybe a fake... well that could be potentially true. I’d just have to take it to an IWC boutique when things open up in the UK.

Something just feels off about the watch. - there being no dot between the 31 and 1 on the day indicator is one thing that stands out.

I am no IWC expert though.

Maybe, I've also never seen a lollipop seconds hand on an IWC during my research.

Not an expert either. But the quality looks off in these pics. My guess is it is fake. If it really was a "junk drawer" find then that should answer the question.

I am no IWC expert but that does not look like an IWC.

I could be wrong, but my first guess would be a fake.

It's hard to tell from a photo, but the quality doesn't look quite right.

If it works and regardless if it’s fake or not, wear it and think warmly of your grandfather when you look at.

Aye aye aye, now I'm resistant to take it to a place to have it looked at.

They'll destroy it.

------

There is a bigger story behind this.
My grandfather had a collection of swiss watches (6 in total according to my grandmother). He apparently set three aside for his children, One was a Patek Phillipe, one was a Rolex (We've had both of these authenticated), and the final one is unknown as he didn't manage to gift it in time.

I love him dearly, but MY was he secretive. When I found this IWC I assumed it was the missing third gift. I'll have to keep looking.

There was also a rumor that he had a box of Kruggerands too... although he claimed he got rid of it.

It has year, day, date, month, and 24-hour dial, and push buttons. Trying to look like a chronograph, with a perpetual calendar. Knock-off!

Now that you point it out, it looks so obvious

It's a fake, chronograph pushers without chronograph counters is always a fake, the pushers adjust the date here.

It seems like the verdict is unanimous.

It's a shame, but it makes sense considering where it was found. The other watches were given in boxes along with their papers.

Just curious what happens to the other 3 watches? It sounds like your grandmother said there were six watches but you’ve only found 2 (plus the questionable IWC). My situation is different. My wife may think I have six watches only to find out there is closer to twenty 😗

I was told yesterday that an original and unworn Tissot RockWatch was found so that may be one of the aforementioned missing three. Hopefully, the other two will eventually appear. I'm visiting in a couple of weeks time, especially since the word "skip" and "charity shop" are starting to get mentioned, which is alarming.

But hey! this situation may be closer to yours than you think, my Gran only thinks there are six because my Grandpa told her there were six.

A Tissot Rock Watch looks to be a $200-300 watch, a far cry from a Patek Phillipe or Rolex.
