    Hello everyone,

Just wondered if anyone can comment on authenticity of this watch I have the opportunity to own. Not the best pictures but pleased the back was taken off. Serial numbers match on lug, movement and card. Thank you in anticipation and for this great thread to help less knowledgable folk like me -

Hello folks - total newbie here. Sorry for the cliché but I have just been clearing out my Dad's house and came across the watch my Grandad left me when I was little tucked away in one of my shoeboxes of 'treasures'. I know absolutely nothing but if it is real, I want to get it working and wearable so I can look after it for my own sons. So, question 1 - is it real? Question 2 - who would you trust to service it if it is? Thanks so much! Grandpas watch - front.jpg

    Genuine, yes.

Few people are qualified to service these, look for someone who specializes in Accutron and electronic watches.

Hi folks, this puppy has popped up for sale locally in an auction. There is only one photo which I have added twice. It was photographed on its side but it is tough to view the face at 90 degrees so I have rotated the image as well.

Following some searching it looks to be a decent looking example of a 4800.31.01 and is an Omega DeVille Prestige. They have supplied the serial number which places it at around 2006. This one seems to be on a bracelet rather than the usual leather strap in the page linked below. My hideously untrained eye makes it look like a good match for the one in the link but I may be missing something horribly obvious. I presume it is an aftermarket bracelet as I can't see other examples of it on a bracelet online? Any thoughts?

I have found a link to the original page on Omega: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/watch-omega-de-ville-prestige-48003101

    TIA!

Oh and the hand are actually silver based on other photos, rather than the black colour it looks to be.

    Guide price is £250 - £550

Wondering if OFers can help me with this 2012 London Olympics Seamaster: https://www.chrono24.com/omega/seamaster--id15341151.htm

The watch itself looks legit enough to me... I think. Seller has it on an aftermarket strap and is selling with the 'original' strap on the side. --And that's where my concern begins. I'll attach pics of the 'original' strap here. Does that seem like an authentic Omega piece?

What trips me up is that every other example of this watch that I've seen listed comes with the black croc strap with the engraved Omega buckle, not this raised emblem one. For example, here, here, and here.

What I like about this example is that it's stateside, the price is a little more down-to-earth, and it's a complete kit. But the strap thing kind has me running for the hills. What do you think? If this strap is indeed wrong, then I have to wonder about the rest of the package, and I'm not buying with doubts... Maybe I've answered my own question, then.

That buckle is hella sketchy! The stitching pattern on the strap is wrong too. You can see on the underside of the strap, each thread loop is at a slight angle to the next one... If you look at an authentic one, each thread loop is lined up. The color has also gone this ashy black... You haven't shown the watch and maybe it has its own issues (or maybe it's genuine), but maybe the owner sold off the original strap before realizing they wanted to sell the whole watch, and bought this to make a "complete" package and unknowingly bought a fake in their haste?

    This is very helpful---thank you.

You can see the watch via the link in my post; doesn't call out with any problems the way the strap does, though. At least not to my eyes.

Anyway, knowing the strap is off, I'm not going to pursue this. I bail at the first red flag, always.

Whoops! Haha, I didn't see the link. I am the same way. You want to feel good about the entire purchase.
