Thanks /Ed

Hi folks, I'm here again asking for some guidance please. Have I bought a pig on Ebay, thoughts very much appreciated? The caseback etching is throwing me, that's where the main question lies for me,also the shape of the case is unfamiliar to me.

Purchased as "Watch Vintage Omega Seamaster Calendar Hand-Winding 60's Mens".(pretty vague and from a private seller).

The flat topped 'A' on the Waterproof had me feeling ok about it,also the dial seemed genuine to my inexperienced eye, but the guy himself was not convincing in his replies to any questions. Couldn't tell me the movement, hadn't had sellers history in 6 months etc. etc. etc.,( all the things we are told to avoid). Realise the crown will need to be replaced too at some stage.

Sincere thanks members,
dalen.

Hey,Is There Anybody Out There ???????

I have a watch that was given to me years ago - would anyone be able to tell me anything about it? I've tried to search around a little and it looks similar to some Omegas I've seen from the 50s. I don't have any idea how to get it open to check the inside.

I watch a few videos on removing the back, but I don't see where exactly to do it and I can't find anything like the tool they use to open them (a butter knife seems like a bad idea?)

Almost all the images I find online have additional writing on the face, mine just says 'Omega'. Also, the dial/winder/knob thing on the side is really tiny compared to what I see online.

There is a watch repair place near me, but everything is locked down. I was hoping someone might be able to point me in a direction. I've heard there are a lot of fake watches and wonder if this could be a fake? I'd really like to find out what year it was made.

Recently purchased from a seller with great feedback and I thought I would get some confirmation as it is my first used watch...and I’m still in the return period! Looks like over a couple of days it is only 1 second fast.

For better opinions on the watch, try to see if you can get clearer pictures.
To know the year of its manufacture you'd need its movement serial number, or an Extract of Archives from Omega (you would need to get the back open, either way). It's probably for the better to take it to a watchmaker. This may be difficult right now, but chances are you'd be better off waiting until the chaos has cleared, and watchmakers are watchmaking again.

Butter knives are not the best!

Hi Jeeper,

I bought it for around $1600, - I think that was a good price. No papers though and I don’t want to open it. But I believe it’s a cal 2500.

Hello, I am new here.

I found a local seller in my country offering what looks like a older Planet Ocean for 1700 euro. It has no papers but comes with the box. Any idea if it is real?

Just recently inherited this watch from my grandfather who passed away. He had worn this watch for years and always assumed it was real. I'm planning on cleaning it up and getting it serviced regardless (sentimental value) but was wondering if anyone with better knowledge of this type of constellation could tell me what they think.
Gorgeous.

Fake watch. Fake pictogram card. Fake paperwork. Fake box. Fake bag. In a way, it's a full set.

Thanks, thought that. Was sent to me by a friend & knew I would get confirmation on here.

Hi, the pics are a bit blurry but as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe you can ask the jeweller for some high res pics so we can take a better look. The price is decent too imo.

My wife was given this watch by her uncle who was a hoarder. I suspect it is a fake as similar ones on the net have Swiss made on the bottom of dial and this does not. can anyone advise?

It's genuine, if a bit tired and needing a clean and a service.

Also has the correct marking on the dial.

I ended up passing on it as I didn’t feel comfortable with the way they wanted to do the payment for the transaction. The ad is gone now. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
