The watch itself may be real, but for the love of god, stay away! That dial🤮

Also, next time. Post photos, not just the link. That way the future members can benefit when the link gets destroyed

Hi and happy new year,

Just a brief background:
I’m saving for an Omega Seamaster ref 2220.80.00 - that’s the reference used in 007 Casino Royale and holds sentimental value to myself and my dad. So I’m really keen on obtaining this watch and wearing it with pride preferably in time for the next Bond film ☺️

I’ve seen them listed for around £2.8k-3.2k in the past but looking on eBay last night I came across this listing: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/264562194830

And listing the reference for £1.6k! Having looked through spec it’s not quartz and appears to be genuine (has papers) and looking at the images there doesn’t seem to be anything standing out to me on the dial to say it’s a modified/Fake/counterfeit watch.

It is coming from Japan which is the only warning sign for me.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

If you’re uk based, you’ll need to factor import duties into the price as well, roughly 22% I think it works out around.

Really appreciate the reply and heads up on import. Even with that 22% it works out much cheaper than what I’ve seen previously.

anything else I should consider?

I would consider that a big plus rather than a concern.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. Can I ask why it’s a big plus? What am I missing?

Japanese sellers on ebay , with the rare exception, are the most honest and trustworthy sellers around.

Did you buy it? I clicked on the ebay link, and it's gone, so I hope you were able to snag it - beautiful watch!

Hi all,

New to the forum but been lusting a Speedmaster for quite some time now. Finally i was able to make up my mind that the
Speedmaster Moonwatch Co-Axial (311.30.44.51.01.002) is the way to go because I dig the classic Speedmaster look but really like the features on the Co-Axial one.
This one seller on Chrono24 has supposedly one available for a bit too good of a true price of 5290€ (I would buy from a company, and if something is off, then I could return it within 14 days for a ~250€ restocking fee). The only thing that puts me off is that he hasn't photographed the warranty card and allegedly it's a July 2019 original purchase. The background search of the seller tells me that it's mostly OK but a bit shady stuff has happened with him before around warranty cards etc.

Can anyone take a look and give me an opinion is this worth going for? Pictures from Chrono24.

Massive thanks.

Something is off. The watch doesn't look right. The red hardcover manual is for watches from the early 2000's and the two white booklets were supplied with the watches from around the 90's.

Why is the print on the movement pink? Also, any movement pic that hides the balance cock and jewel, hairspring, and balance wheel is suspect.

Looking closely, the screws and holes in the movement seem to be in the right place and orientation - but I'd want more pics if I was buying. As stated above, the books and papers don't go with that watch.

Shouldn't there be a visible serial number on the lower left lug?

Thanks for the replies. This is the entire listing, has some more pics: https://www.chrono24.de/omega/speed...on-2019-bp-ref-31130445101002--id13200674.htm
The seller offered me to talk in Whatsapp where he would provide the warranty card picture. I'll ask for some more pics, including the content of the books and then let's see, but right now I have a feeling that this is a bit too good to be true kind of a deal.

Also whilst we are on the topic, there are a couple more: One from Watchfinder
https://www.watchfinder.com/Omega/Speedmaster Moonwatch/311.30.44.51.01.002/22605/item/147822

and one from Meertz Worldoftime
https://www.worldoftime.de/en/omega/speedmaster-27923.html

The Meertz one strikes as a pretty good deal to me. I can always add the steel bracelet later and I don't oppose the leather strap at all.

Anything dubious for these two, or would it be simply a preference of leather strap on older watch vs. steel bracelet on a newer watch with manufacturers warranty?

No expert here, but is the "Seamaster" in red correct? Also, both of my Seamasters had the waves surrounding the seahorse on the case back.
Some folks better informed than I will chime in soon.
