Thanks everyone for this amazing thread, learned a lot.
Finally decided to dive in and buy a watch for myself. Settled on the 3513.33.00 date that an acquaintance is selling. Everything I've seen on this watch looks correct, however it doesn't have box or papers, so I'm a bit skeptical, I have no plans on selling it I'm just trying to get a good watch to daily, so not having a box is not a deal breaker. Just trying to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

I can still back out of the deal if needs be, but I'm starting to fall for this watch.

I'm taking it to get checked out and serviced (if I end up buying it), but I trust your collective wisdom much more than the watch shops I have available near me

Hello, I’m buying my first big wacht monday. An Omega Seamaster 2551.80.00, cal1120.

The serialnumber on the lug and on the movement matches. Can someone please check this one out as I don’t want to fail my first buy.

Thank you in advance!

Subdials look off, especially at 6 oclock
Thanks sah, Can you help me out a bit more ? what specifically looks off?
cant seem to notice anything different from the reference photos I've been looking at.

I've attached a closer picture:

Sorry I retracted my previous comment. Subdial looks better after comparing to other pic.

No worries, thanks anyway. As far as I can tell everything is original. Unfortunately the watch clasp broke just as I was checking it with a watch technician. It looks grimy and rusted, but I didn't notice it before.

I truly believe it wasn't our fault since it was just during regular use. But, I must admit that when I got it it was OK, maybe a bit loose but in one piece. Can I, in good conscience, return it this way? Or is this the risk when you buy used watches and I have to accept it as is?

I think that as long as the seller didn't trick me and knowingly sell me something fake or modified I have to assume these things can happen, right?

Sorry for my rant...anyway...can any one point me in the direction of a used sliding clasp for a Speedmaster date bracelet???🤦

What gave it away if I may ask?
The entire movement. Fake warranty card isn't doing it any favors, either.

Hope you're not the seller. If you are, get a job.

Wow...not the seller.

I thought it looked good hence why I asked

I just wanted to know since I was interested, but not anymore.

And your post is completely useless for future researchers since you posted a link, not photos, and the linked photos have been deleted.

Real 2551.80 or not:

Real 2551.80 or not? :
highly doubt fake ones would go the mile to brand the movement on a closed caseback watch
Can anyone please help?
I recently bought a 2551.80, and although I can't speak to the movement itself, the watch looks legit to me.

Came across a midsize quartz seamaster and I'm wondering if it's real. Biggest thing is the marking on the bracelet dont seem right to me. Hopefully you all can help

Looks fine to me. What marking is bothering you?

Not sure the terminology but the 824 on the lugs and the arrows indicating pin direction seems to be marked rather than etched into the metal. The others from this period seem to be etched
