Unless you know what to look for it’s best leaving it to an expert.
They are close.

thanks for the advice. the serial numbers tally up.
It was from a business deal friend. I thought it was too good to be true.
Real.

Wow, the fakes are getting better. They’ve added screws in similar places to the real one, but the balance wheel and the screw to hold the rotor are still wrong on the ebay fake. In the event they matched the serial number on the lug and movement, I still doubt they are producing unique serial numbers for every single watch. I would expect they would make a run of these watches with a particular serial number and then maybe change it once word gets out of what serial number to avoid and then produce a bunch more.

Edit - just saw the 2836-2 markings on the fake watch movement, which is a common Asian movement used in fakes.

The whole movement under magnification is, at best, grubby with screws heads that are damaged.
The serial numbers would be the same for “a batch” but I think they do change them from time to time.
The easiest giveaway for novices is the gilt balance wheel.

How does this 3572 look from the movement. The serial number on the case matches the number on the movement. thanks James

Time to flag this one on the bay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Spee...246192?hash=item2159f67a70:g:q6sAAOSwk1Bc0meU

Horrendous fake "DON" bezel. If they weren't specifically calling that out as part of the attraction of the piece I'd probably not worry about it, but they clearly are trying to capitalize on that. Only one picture too, wrong chrono hand, washed lume, etc. No way to tell if it is actually a -67 as claimed. BIN price is $8990 🙄

Hard to see but everything looks terrible. I think the dial has "antimagnetic" on it, which is never good on an Omega.

Even though I'm not a newbie I will kick it off....

I was offered this many months ago to my amazement...

The FAKE Silver Snoopy Award....

No expert here, but I'm guessing this is a Franken-Speedmaster. No rep manufacturer, to my knowledge, has been able to recreate the tight sub-dial grouping that is the signature of the Speedmaster Pro.

1st post eh.

And I've read that people who call them "rep" are the people who go to the replica forums and buy them. True or False?

Wow. Do typically throw accusations at new members, or am I just special?

I hope your warm welcome doesn’t reflect the overall tenor of this site.

I'm usually the nicest of the group. I lost my mind for a minute. Sorry.

Hi, new to the site. Am looking for something vintage as a dress watch to go along with my FOIS. I prefer black dials and have come across this

.........................what do you think?

I think it's a real Omega.

I also think the case is made of chocolate and it has spent too much time in the sun.

I also think it's remarkable that the dial hasn't suffered the same degradation that the case and movement has.

I also think that any seller who includes things like:

"presented on a brand new stunning genuine Italian leather NATO strap handmade by YellowDog Straps, the strap is light brown in colour (now discontinued) and smells phenomenal! "

should be avoided.

So a redial on an overly polished case then : (
Shame as it would be a birth year watch as well but it's in the 'too good to be true' bracket.
My search continues...
