First posting, so this seems like the correct thread to post in. I have been wanting a genuine Seamaster for decades, and I believe I have finally found one I can afford.
Unfortunately, it is at a pawn shop, so no box, cards, or documentation.
These are seller supplied photographs and serial number. My fingers are crossed your members say it is the genuine article, as I have never seen this color combination.

Serial
number is: 60497618.

Thank you, ahead of time.
I have a similar Seamaster, and it looks pretty darn correct. Same hands. Same back. I've not seen that color combo, but I'm not a Seamaster expert.

One thing that particularly stands out as correct are the metal pieces between the bracelet and the case... those look totally correct, and it's something that stands out as wrong usually on fakes. That bracelet is probably one of the harder things to fake on that era of Seamaster.

I'm referring to the two vertical marks at 12 on the dial not being lined up with one another. An I suppose it would be possible for the red to fade off the tip of the second hand but being that as far as I can tell there isn't a tip there to fade so I don't believe that is the case. Like I said I'm just an amateur but there is enough in the pictures of that watch to make me nervous. Just my opinion

Well, the pics are certainly poor.

I've had a few Omega's over the years, a Speedmaster Co Axial, a Dark Side Of The Moon and a Seamaster 300.
I'm currently in the market for another Omega and found this on ebay not far from where I live. I don't have enough experience with Planet Ocean so can you please tell me does this look right ?

Looks good to me, but he should include a picture of the movement and face of the warranty cards, even if it requires redacting the serial number on the cards and the case back sticker that I saw there.

As another member has mentioned it looks ok. Its always hard to tell from photos alone, you really need the watch in hand, preferably with a loupe to know for sure. That is, if you know what to look for.
If you shop around some ADs in the UK will give up to 20% discount. Taking that into account, it would cost another £500 to purchase new from an AD.
I know what I would rather do.

Any thoughts?
I'll finally go to my watch maker on Wed to have him check the movement.

Just got this in a trade (Seamaster 120m Chronometer, 2501.31). What do you think? It feels right and looks right but I've never seen the bracelet number "ST-823" in the center of the end link nor have I seen a case number so off center. Also, the stamp on the inside of the clasp seems light. Thoughts? I didn't have concerns at first but I thought I'd bring it to the experts. Thanks!

As far as I can tell, the watch head itself looks correct (proper dial and hands). The finish on the bracelet has been brushed, and it should have some bits on the inside links polished. The watch itself has been over polished and a bit of metal removed from the lugs to blunt the edges. The 823 Endlink is the part number for the one that comes on an 18mm bracelet for a mid-size watch.

Show us a picture of the movement in the back. There are replicas out there.

Imma be a little snarky here. It bothers me a little that you get a nice watch as a gift and you think it might be fake?

Why do you think it's not real? How much respect and trust do you have for the gift giver? Are they the type to give fake watches? Would they usually not give you a real watch because you don't deserve one?

Fakes do not come with warranty cards that match the serial number on the watch lugs. Fakes do not usually match the serial number on the lugs to the serial number on the movement. But the movement picture will give away the fake (I asked for movement pics on a watch posted prior to yours) and yet you didn't include a picture of the movement, even though the caseback is transparent.

The pics look real, but I've seen some good fakes of the previous generation SMP ceramic, where the only give away was the lume plots were more grey than a brilliant white, and they don't glow as bright in the dark as the real thing. The owner did not try to pass it off as real. That one flaw on the other watch is not present in your watch, but maybe they're getting better at fakes?

Serial numbers seem to match. Presumably they match on the warranty card too?

Another check is to go on the Omega website and check the Master Chronometer certification using the reference on the Master Chronometer card. This would add to its authenticity.
