Both are real. Top one is the earlier model 2599.80. Bottom one is the 2225.80.

    Hi,

This is my first post here, so be gentle ;)

Anyway, I recent purchased a Generation 2 x-33 from a UK pre-owned watch dealer. It came with box and papers (dated 2004, from a UK retailer), and I have no doubt about the authenticity of the watch (first few pictures), what I am concerned about is the bracelet.

I’m not sure whether the bracelet is counterfeit. First, the bracelet does not have the bracelet number on the underside of the end link:

However, I have seen Gen 1 bracelets without this number, and it is inside the clasp on this one:

Also, while slightly faded in the middle the etching on the clasp looks correct. And the bracelet is clearly titanium.

My concerns were raised by what I thought were marks from the store changing the links, But, now I have time to look closely four of the links have indentations in the middle and I have never seen this before. On two they look like indentations, but on two they are clearly how the links fit together…

SO, the bracelet could be counterfeit, but it feels correct, and is only missing the end link number. But, four of the links are very strange, and I am wondering if those links are actually fake? Pictures attached! What do folks think?

I have no direct knowledge, but haven't ever seen a counterfeit Omega titanium bracelet.

Agreed. Also, I have scoured the net and eBay auctions over the last day, I can find plenty of Gen 1 and the odd Gen 2 watches without the bracelet number on the underside of the end link. And, looking in detail at the clasp engraving compared to others I am convinced the bracelet is real. The problem is those links, I can't find another picture of a similar link. I would call Omega UK, but I doubt they would talk to me about this over the phone...

Looks good, serial numbers match in case and movement. Not the most sought after model. You can get ones without the moon to Mars ie plain black face for that price. If your BF is into Mars or NASA it's an ok price you might be able to do a bit better on that model though. Check the for sale forums here if you want an all black dial.

Thank you for helping me out. Why is that model not sought after? I'm trying to get a better deal on it.

Not sure if this is the right thread because I think this is more of a franken than a fake, but I am not sure. Serial number 45250348 which would age it from 1982 but then it has a clear case back which I am not sure they were doing back then. Also, is the bezel right for the watch? The ones I have seen with the gradue bezels all have a standard caseback.

So, if it is only the case back that is the problem, can that be replaced easily enough? Any other red flags?

I am looking for a 1982 speedy (birth year), is this the guy?
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

The movement appears in range but the watch has been modded. Odds are the pulsameter aka heart rate dial was added later, I can't tell you if it's a real part though. The clear case back if real is from a much later watch. Dial and hands appear correct. My bet is someone took a beat up 82 and spruced it up with a somewhat rare but easy to source bezel and case back to make it more attractive to sell.

Thanks. I suspected something similar. Period bezel and case back easy enough to source?

Can anyone give their opinion on this example, I am of the opinion that it is fake but comments welcome. I have been asked by a customer who is thinking of buying this for my opinion as I own the same model but would like the forum to confirm my thoughts.
