I’ve recently bought this new 3861 hesalite Speedmaster via Chrono24. I bought it from a professional dealer. It’s my first expensive watch purchase (and first speedmaster) so I found it a bit exciting to buy it from an online grey dealer.

It would be great if somebody could look at the pictures and help me verify if it’s an authentic speedmaster.

- It comes with full box and papers. The serial numbers match and I looked up the master chrono certificate.

- All dials work

- Weight checks out (137 grams measured vs 134 grams per omega specs).

Thanks for the help and am happy to join the Speedmaster community!

:realcat2:

Fake Speedmasters are still not convincing enough.

If that isn't a real Speedmaster I'll eat my hat. I'm not wearing a hat but I'll find one to eat.

Hello all! I’m planning to buy this Seamaster, (box, no papers) does it look legit to you specialists? Thanks in advance!

Looks fine to me, but Google the Refrence number from the listing and compare.

Hi all! Thinking of finally buying my childhood dream watch (2531.80) in Japan, and wanted to get everyone's thoughts on its authenticity based on these photos. I truly appreciate everyone's help. (No box/papers)

I purchased a "2503.80" and setting the date and time felt a little cheap to me. I started inspecting the watch and I noticed a few details that were off:

Font of the 5 and CO-Axial misalignment.

Cursive font of Seamaster completely off (a, s, t)

Wrong seconds hands LOL

Filthy and stripped screws.

I made this purchase on watchexchange on reddit from someone with over 300 transactions and thankfully I was refunded. However, the seller is still adamant that the watch is genuine and insists that every seamster they own "the cursive s connects and fonts change over the years". I am looking for some insight on that comment, because I cannot find an AT online anywhere that has the cursive font they are insisting.

Thanks for reading!

A full movement shot would quickly answer your question.
He started another thread and neglected to post any shot that would let us confirm the piece lol...

Am I wrong to flag this as fake? A lot of things look very convincing, but the bezel numbers are too close to the dots below them

That serial number is not commonly associated with high end fakes of the NTTD of a certain Chinese maker, but the bezel numbers do indeed look a bit oddly placed. I'd buy the seller.

A photo of the movement would give doubtless clarity. Unfortunately, in the case of the NTTD, this would require removing the caseback.

Japanese watch sellers are known for being remarkably honest, you may even say "notoriously honest". 😂

The watch in the photos looks fine as well. This "90s" generation of Seamasters only has mid-tier fakes with many flaws; the dangerous high-end "superclone" fakes mostly come from the late-2000s/2010s era and onward.

I'd say this one's real.

Google is free. 83669886 is associated with fakes. It's 100% fake.

I see Japanese sellers trying to pass off fakes as real every single day. Being a seller from a region is not an excuse to skip due diligence.

Ouch. You're right. My bad. Should've googled that number.

Well, let's put it this way: they're generally more honest. At least the commercial ones. I have yet to stumble across a fake luxury watch from a Japanese shop on Chrono24 or eBay, I've reported dozens from sellers elsewhere though (Netherlands, Italy, India, Germany, Spain, Brazil etc.). Admittedly, my own account may he based on rather limited anecdotal evidence as I don't scout the web for fakes every single day. If you do, I have no reason to doubt your assessment of Japanese sellers.

But of course, due diligence still applies, regardless of country. Absolutely, 100%.
