I was looking at this one on eBay. Looks like a reputable dealer and answered the questions I had. Looks like it has the authenticity guarantee on eBay but who knows if that’s actually useful. Was looking for everyone’s thoughts.

Hi guys

I have my eye on an Omega Alaska speedmaster, and chanced upon what I thought was a good deal.

Issue is the card, which says the sale was made in 2018. I know that this watch was sold in 2008. Is there any possibility that it might have been for sale in 2018?? Oh, should I stay clear?

Thanks very much all!

Talked with this seller, had a tudor for sale as well. He says this SMP is a 2022. I wanted him to meet at an authenticator in my area but it's about 1hr drive for him or so and he says he'll try to find time. Claims to have all the paperwork and receipts with his name on it and doesn't have issues showing me ID or so. asked him for caseback photos so just waiting for that. Before i proceed further can anyone on this forum spot anything in these pictures that would make you suspicious. Thanks in advance.

I doubt the dealer will be willing to open the watch since it will need to be pressure tested again. The watch looks real. Just be sure the serial numbers match on the warranty card.

This should have a sapphire case back, so seeing that alone should be all that is needed.

I guess it’s possible this sat unsold for 10 years. It wouldn’t be the first time something like that had happened.
Was looking for everyone’s thoughts.
Based on those photos, it is genuine.

From everything I have seen, I have no reason to believe it’s fake. The one part of the 8800 movement that you’ll want to see is hidden in your photo. You’ll want to see the free spring balance, which I have circled below. But even so, without seeing that, what I do see looks genuine.

also if anyone else feels free to chime in please do, i respect all your opinions as you guys are the omega gurus.

As @Scarecrow Boat said, it is all about the jewels on the movement and the free spring balance. These are not the same on the fakes. Add to that the original box, papers and the quality of the dial. You really have to look a lot of watches to know at a glance if they are fake or real. The watch is genuine.

Upon further inspection today meeting with the seller.

As per your advice, all warranty cards match with matching serial numbers. The serial number on the case matches the one on the movement.

BONUS: Receipt has full information including the address for the store it was purchased from (a full on OMEGA Boutique only store), his name, address, which matches the address on his license and his phone number which matches the one I've been calling him on. Also on the receipt is the reference number, model, color and serial number. He owns about 6/7 other pieces including a couple other sea masters. Everything is pointing in a very good direction. Also attched to the receipt was the little paper receipt that you get from paying on a credit/debit terminal that was attached to the main receipt.

Mom gave me this last week and I am thinking of selling it. Can anyone please help me to check if this is legit?
