Hello new members...

Welcome to the OmegaForums.net!!

I have specifically created this thread just for the newbies who come on here after they have been given a watch buy their uncle's uncle twice removed OR they have bought what you think is a legit Omega off good old flee bay!

The idea is you post your watch here and it is discussed by our panel of experts, who I might add, may say few choice words like 🤬 and 🤬 or maybe 🤬.

The will endeavour to be as blunt as possible, but getting you the answer you are looking for.

The main idea is this..

It will remove the countless new threads asking 'Is my watch fake?' or 'I was left this by my dad's dad's dad from 1860'

Any new threads will be merged in to this one as of now.

Thanks very much.

The OF Management & Moderation Department.

Fire away!!
I'm a newbie. This watch was donated to the charity shop where I work. I'd appreciate advice as to whether it's genuine Omega. I took the back off to lok inside which is why it's not back on correctly.

Hi all, after many years waiting and several auctions lost or skipped, finally I got my dream watch, the Omega Seamaster Professional 300 2220.80. I bought it from a Swedish (my own country) legit auction site, the man that sold the watch buys and sells watches as a hobby. We didn't meet in person and he mailed the watch to me. He has been on the auction site for 2 years and sold several omegas 33 different feedback all positive 4.8/5.

Now I just want to make sure that my watch is legit and not a fake, I really don’t think so I’m 99.9 percent sure that it isn’t fake. I got all 3 red cards (see picture). I’ve made sure to check that the serial number matches on the case (located at one of the lugs) and I’ve also checked the serial number inside the watch under the rotor. They all match on both the chronometer certificate and international warranty. I’ve also checked the Instruction manual its made in December 2008 and the watch is sold in November 2009. What my eye could tell looking up pictures on the internet of the 2500C movement I couldn’t tell any difference on my watch. I used a magnifying loupe to look up numbers and the text inside. I've also taken a picutre of the stamp on the backside of the case.

So what do you all think?

An extra question also: what is the 5 digit number on the international warranty card under the date window?

Thanks in advance

Best Regards 😀

Here comes some pictures:

This Breitling is a fake. There was a guy who wanted to trade him with one of my watches. Luckily I did some research and realized that the second hand wasn't as long as the originals and the undecorated movement. It's a top-notch knockoff but a knockoff nonetheless

Kinda hard for me to tell, but could use some input. I've asked the seller for additional pics and hopefully some open case back pics as well.

Anyone familiar enough with this ref to be able to tell? It's a 2011, did they usually come in that box? The cards seem to match from what I can tell.

Thanks for the insight!

Genuine.
Case was made for Omega by Cédex, Charles Dubois SA based in Le Locle.
Quite a nice watch.

"Buyer Beware" is in full swing, isn't it? I've bought used / vintage watches. I can't tell you if your watch is fake or not. It doesn't appear to be fake, but here's my thought / advice. 1. Authenticate it and/or the Seller the best you can. 2. If it's a private seller, get it to a 'local' dealer. 3. If it's an online sale, find an authentication service. Pay for it if you must. And last, 4. If the Seller balks to any such step, RUN. Run away and keep your money in your wallet.

I suppose there is one last suggestion. Don't buy super cheap, gutter ball anything. You're only asking for problems.

Thank you so much!! This definitely helps as I’ve never bought pre-owned and don’t want to risk it 😀

@RichG1973 did you end up getting this Speedmaster Racing? Beautiful piece, I'm kinda considering adding one to my "eventually want to own" list. If you picked it up how do you like it?

Omega Speedmaster Racing 329.32.44.51.01.001

I've been offered this watch, it looks and feels correct and all the paperwork is ligit. Any thoughts?

Hi, new here with a first Omega, Aqua Terra 38.5mm, 231.20.39.21.55.004. Bought from a dealer via Chrono24. Unfortunately the red Omega cards and the box have a different serial number then the watch itself. I asked the seller to clarify what happened and if I can get the correct cards. The watch looks right for my inexperienced eye, with all the markings and details, when compared to online sources. I tried calling Omega store, but they didn't want to check the serial number. I appreciate any opinions here. Thanks, Mac

Hi, I am thinking about buying a PO 215.90.46.51.99.001 on eBay. This auction listing on eBay has for this PO an eBay's Authenticity Guarantee. Is the eBay's Authenticity Guarantee very good and can I rely on it that this PO 215.90.46.51.99.001 is authentic and it is not a fake?
Thanks

Gamehawker, your best bet is to post some pictures from the listing so that one of the experts here has a chance to look at it. The cursory Google search suggests that that particular watch has a sapphire case back, is that correct? If it comes with box, tags, papers and the movement looks authentic, I'm not sure I would be super concerned.

You are going to get mixed responses to whether or not eBay's authenticity system is 100% accurate, but eBay tends to err on the side of the buyer from what I've seen in reviews and comments. The occasional fake may very well make it through their process but it probably has significantly reduced the number that are listed for sale and caught some at inspection.

That said, you are buying the seller. If they don't have 100% feedback, if they don't have a return policy, if they don't have several hundred transactions, if they started their ebay account yesterday- those all 'MAY' be reasons to be cautious.

ErichPryde thank you very much for the information and advice.

Here are some pictures of the watch from the listing (the watch looks pristine but the warranty card looks a little strange). The seller does have 100% Positive feedback with 278 transactions but he has only 114 as a seller. The seller has had his eBay account since August 31, 2001. He also has a NO return policy for this watch.

The watch looks really nice but I am really hesitant about the purchase of this watch.

I would be super surprised if that was fake, but I am NOT an "expert" omega guy. I'd be really surprised if a seller with that much history and feedback like that would want to jeopardize their account.

I'd be curious to see if anyone else chimes in.

That said... if you're not comfortable, it's really that simple. It's a lot of money to spend and it is hardly the only watch of that type that is available or will be available.
