Great! I'm was tossing the box anyways. What cards are supposed to come with the watch? I did not receive the int'l warranty card, is that normal since JS is not an AD?
Joma is a grey dealer and one way they are able to offer these at such a discount is they do not come with a factory warranty, meaning you do not get any cards. They are sold with a Joma warranty instead. This is also likely why you didn’t receive the correct watch box. Joma likely received this watch in a “watch coffin” which is a see thru plastic case and then paired it with a box they had on hand.

Edit to add- Congrats on your marriage and marrying a partner with obviously good taste and savvy for watches 😀 wear it in good health and have fun! It’s a great piece.

Looks fake from one mile, you can spot it at first glance looking at the picture.

Can't speak to the watch---to my untrained eyes looks real enough. But note that the seller is using an account whose latest feedback is over a year old, and is linked to a company that appears to have been dissolved several years ago. So I'd agree: scam---using real images and a hijacked account with good feedback. You buy the watch and they send you a fake one (that doesn't match the images) or perhaps nothing at all.

Always do your diligence. And when it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

The price just seemed way too low.

Yeah it's an interesting strategy. You'd think this trap might catch more quarry if the listing-price were actually higher, and thus more believable. But maybe they're after the truly gullible---and are also banking on the fact that a smaller crime will make it more likely that the victim just cuts his losses rather than battling all the eBay red tape required to get the money back-?

Not sure how much experience you have buying watches online, but I think most of us here would urge you to avoid eBay (and Chrono24) and stick to forum sellers here or reputable dealers who will stand by the authenticity of their product. (DavidSW, Crown & Caliber/Hodinkee, OCWatchGuy, European Watch Co, Tropical Watch, HQ Milton, Nashville Watch, Bob's Watches... the list goes on and on. There are other big sellers with good but more complicated reputations---SwissWatchExpo, Capetown Diamond... That's a U.S.-centric list---not sure where you're located.) Definitely inquire here with pictures before purchasing anything if you want expert input.

I suppose at that price it wouldn’t go through the eBay verification process either.
Never bought off eBay, it seems too risky as a novice.

Reported the listing to ebay and it has gone already, although the closed listing is visible in my watched item list with a completely different seller username. Thanks guys you were spot on.

Hey friends - mega newbie here about to purchase a second hand speedmaster moonwatch 3861 - serial 83220749, how do I certify that this serial number is indeed real? It comes with box and card with the same serial number etc but I want to be sure - I've seen some pretty convincing fakes... thanks in advance!!!

Few unanswered posts here. I’ll take a stab, but definitely defer to those with more experience and keener eyes if they chime in.

1) the 329.32.44.51.01.001 Speedmaster Racing: looks good to me.

2) Re: confirming the serial number for the 3861: you can go to Omega’s website and join a chat with a rep. They might (or might not) be willing to confirm that it’s a real serial that belongs to that model. Depends on who you get and what mood they’re in. I wouldn’t expect them to give you any more info than that, though. And just confirming that it’s a real serial doesn’t mean it’s a real watch. Could be a clone of a real one that kept the same serial. Buy the seller, as they say, and do your diligence.

3) Re: the Planet Ocean chrono… fake as a $3 bill.

4) Re: the 2541.80 Bond watch, I’m not seeing any obvious tells, but this was a commonly faked watch. Since it’s also such an easy reference to find, I’d urge you to buy one from a seller you can have supremely high confidence in. A place that checks for and guarantees authenticity. (Joma, Crown & Caliber, etc.) Just to be sure you know: this is a quartz watch, not an automatic. (That too makes it somewhat easier to fake.)

Hi I purchased this on Chrono 24. I just wanted to see if the consensus is it's genuine. It was from a trustee UK seller

Your Seamaster looks fine in those pictures Craig, nothing I’m seeing stands out as fake.
