Hello everyone

I have been lurking this forum for a few weeks, since I retrieved a few vintage omegas from my grandfather and decided to start a collection of my own!
(Thus, apologies in advance if I am not following protocol with this post, or if the following question has already been asked)

I have been stumbling on the following item on Etsy (not super reputable website to buy watches if I understood correctly):
il_1588xN.4015102650_8g6t.jpg

Pretty sure this is too good to be true + the vendor profile and blank sales record is quite a red flag too...
What do you think? Any specific ways to be sure that this is a (nice looking) fake?

Thank you in advance!

Hi guys,

I came across a Speedmaster 60th anniversary listing a few days ago.
https://www.leboncoin.fr/montres_bijoux/2212332676.htm

I've been keeping an eye on this model lately on C24 but they usually are a lot more expensive (this one is 5200€).
It's not next to where I live but I can make the trip, assuming it's legit.

Photo quality on this website is quite poor, but knowing how good the fake can be now I am not sure that bettee photos would help.

What do you guys think?

I looked at some unboxing videos, it looks as if it's all there, but again, box can be fake..

Anything to ask for specifically to find out if it's a real one?

Thanks !

Hi guys,

I came across a Speedmaster 60th anniversary listing a few days ago.
https://www.leboncoin.fr/montres_bijoux/2212332676.htm

I bought a watch on Le Bon Coin (LBC). After a year browsing LBC with sellers asking crazy prices, and or totally unable to properly put two words together to describe the watch, and crappy pictures, I eventually found one where the pictures were hi-resolutions and the watch looked good. The guy lived in a nice part of Paris and was knowledgeable about watches etc. The price, €800 was good, not writing back home about it good, but ok.

Once I got it, the case was a unmitigated disaster that took over 9 hours to refinish properly, and the "just serviced movement" had not seen a watchmaker in a decade.

So no more LBC for me. The only watch I would buy from LBC are those sold by former Navy commandos and other elite units, because they don't know other alternatives than LBC and most of them are straight shooter (pun unintended).

I was also looking for some specific motorcycle parts and again most sellers are clueless.

(Sorry for the lengthy rant) 😀

LeBonCoin is not the place to buy watches. Lot of fake ads here from scammers who don't even own the watch.
Try to GoogleImage search the pic to see if it has not been 'stolen' from anoterh ad or another forum.
Ask the man to send a picture of the watch let's say : set at 01:15 with the chrono hand at 20 seconds, and a coffee cup behind the watcht, and you'll ahve the beginning of the answer (or no answer from him)

Agree 100%.
I've seen a few vintage watches there and every time I asked for specific photos the sellers just stop replying. That's a quick way of spotting most of the scams.

For this one i'll try and get more photos quickly, but the idea would ultimately be to travel to go see the watch, but only if it looks legit in photos (saves me a very long trip).

Question here is more: are Speedmaster professionnal replicas easy to spot (it seems to be easier on these, than with the reduced Speedmasters). And especially this one being a limited edition.

Cheers for your replies btw.

There are no good speedy professional replicas. The Asian Venus movement they use has the wrong sub dial spacing, so it's an instant tell.

The larger 7750 based replicas are instantly spotted due to their thickness, poor indice placement and rough finish on the hands. They have a sunken date and decorative plate for the movement.

They also don't have the concaved or deep dish sub dials and are made by OMF which is a mid tier replica factory. Easily spotted.

The best speedy replica is the HRF racing. But that doesn't have deep dish subdials, has the wrong date window and font, with a sunken date. The bezel insert is also not great either.

Hi everyone.
I'm about to buy my first omega, and It's going to be a second hand..
Seller just sent me these few photos.
Serial number is the same on papers, case and movement, and watch looks great to me.
But your help will be welcome.
So what do you think about it? Looks like OK for you?
thank you very much.

Hi,
I've recently obtained this Omega bracelet but I'm not sure if it's original or fake. I tried searching for similar one but couldn't find anything. It looks like it could be from '90s
Thanks!

What is it that makes you suspicious that it might be fake?

it would be my first omega, and I have no experience with this brand.
The price is a little lower than all other similar references with an old caliber 9300, while this is a 9900.
the writings on the movement and the caseback look lighter and finer than in other photos I have found, but this may be due to the brightness of the image?
Seller is very far from me, and he is the second owner.
So I prefer to be suspicious.
Photos are good, and so I was thinking maybe someone could detect something I can’t see by myself.
Thanks.

Have a look at this video by Tim at TheWatchBox

It looks like the same model as you’ve shown.

Hello! Has Omega ever manufacutred the pins for their nato straps in a folded manner. Everything I'm seeing online is a milled center hole in the pin. Images below:

OEM image found online is top
Mine is bottom

The part numbers (ZSZ002026 & ZSZ002021) on the back the Omega branded keeper also doesn't match whats on Omega's site. Wondering if they changed the pin construction thus changed part numbers at some point. Do I have some fake natos?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: For anyone who may also have a similar question, Archer graciously provided some info - he looked up the part numbers I listed above and they match the size and description of the straps and buckles. Also mentioned two buckles he ordered from Omega have the same folded pin. So my assumption is they are likely genunine.

Well, after naively jumping onto the Omega train, without as much homework as I should have done, as this is my first foray into the luxury watch market, I purchased this watch, and would really appreciate if someone could give me their opinion please on if it is a real Omega or (heaven forbid) a fake…

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/omega-se...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I purchased it on eBay because the listing talked about Authenticated, so I thought I was safe, but I’m not too sure about the whole Authenticated thing now…the pictures probably aren’t the best, but if any further, more detailed pictures are needed then I can post some later today.

It does come with a warranty card and a pictograms card (not sure if it’s a good idea to post pictures of these), but obviously these can be faked too…The serial number on the warranty card is 91350938 and the watch is supposedly a 2012 Seamaster Diver 300M

Anyway, I would very much appreciate any help and thoughts please…

Thanks!

Probably not a fake but did you buy the most expensive SMP quartz on eBay just to make sure it was authentic ?

Thanks for the replies guys, it has put my mind at rest a little…well, a lot really! 😀

As for it being expensive…a couple of things to mention…I paid £2300 rather than £2600, so still expensive, but not quite as expensive, and I only paid that because it looked in very good condition, with zero signs of marks and scratches anywhere, even on the back of the clasp where there always seem to be marks…

Any thoughts on what I should have paid for this? Did I massively overpay, or just by a couple of hunted ££?

Thanks again for the replies…much appreciated!

On second thought, condition is very important so it's probably better to overpay a little and get a nice one.

Hello, I am a first time Omega buyer. Just received this FOiS I purchased from a Chrono24 Private Seller (who BTW has been wonderful during the transaction). I have a 48hr return policy agreement with the seller and was wondering if someone more familiar with these watches can give me their opinion on it's authenticity. It is seems in wonderful condition and has everything... outer box, wooden display box, original paperwork, warranty cards, instructions, and receipts from the AD purchase. Came with a Omega Ed White 321 bracelet installed.
To my novice eyes it seems perfect but just want to confirm with people more knowledgeable.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
