Hi All,

Just dotting my I’s and crossing my T’s on this 2201.51 in case I’m missing anything. It looks legit to me but I’m no expert. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I've looking to buy my first omega for months and found his one I really like, sold with box. Although it looks genuine to me (omega symbol, star symbol, fonts, ref number on the back etc) he hasn't posted pictures of the 1120 movement that it supposedly has (I asked and waiting). Any first opinions? Price 530 euros
Any help on this one anyone? Going for about 550 euros and I'm very keen to buy, but untrained to spot

Hi all,

Opinions on this watch? Looks pretty good to my untrained eyes but just wanting to confirm it's legit.

looks legit at first glance.
fonts look right, placement good, movement looks right.
the spring bars have the "lines" which says they are Omega brand so that would be a lot of trouble to swap them out to make appear original.
just my $0.02

Hi

Yes it also looks good for me. I also seen that the serial number on the cards match the serial number from the case.
In my opinion the Planet Ocean models are the best fakes i ever seen (included some model with sapphire back) so i said to myself that i will never buy one without the cards and also to be attentions on the cards because they also can be fake. What i notice was that the fake cards are not the correct red colour..

Regards

Looks good to me but maybe other opinion it's welcome because from my knowledge this model should also have the serial number on the lug..not only on the machine..

Noob here. Is the dial somewhat glossy? I thought this version is a flat finish dial. Or is it just and optical illusion of the crystal?

Hi All, I've tried my best to go over this watch with a loupe and reference pics on the internet from reliable sources. So far it looks good to me, but there are legitimate experts on this forum.
Received it this morning. Purchased from ELady in Japan. Came with papers but no box. Any thing concerning? Will be taking it to a local Omega watchmaker soon to observe the movement.
Thanks for helping out.

Mark

So check out this action; the family heads up to my wife's parents' house for a visit and Sunday dinner. I show my FIL my new Omega and he says oh, I have something you'd like to see. He pulls an old cardboard file box out of a closet, and it has a few small boxes and a shoe box inside. So we start looking at all of this stuff that his father had collected over the years before he passed in 2019. There were at least 25 pocket watches (Howard, Elgin, Hampden, Hamilton, Waltham, Rockville, Hawthorne, National, Illinois, Ingersoll Reliance). There were a bunch that looked like they were gold. They were in varying conditions, and several had a key attached for winding. There were 3 Howards that all looked gold and in really good condition and all were in the original boxes - one was engraved with a date in 1911. Turns out his father (Harry) was a watch maker/repairer for a few years after he got out of the Army after WWII, but then went into the oil drilling industry, but still apparently kept up the hobby.
A bunch of wrist watches too. We found 2 Rolexes with original papers and one Omega. He is going to get the Rolexes checked out, and he let me take the Omega to do some research. Pictures are below. Anything anyone can tell me would be really awesome to know about this watch.
First, does it look real? What year does it look like it might be from? I wound it maybe a total of 2 to 3 full rotations and it started running right away. It was running when I was taking these pictures. Are there any "Do's" or "Don'ts"? If I wanted to get it to be a daily wearable what should I do? (other than replacing the band). My FIL wanted to know what I thought it was worth and I had no idea. Any other thoughts or tips?

Oh yeah, so the other wrist watches were a Gruen that started when I wound it and the day and date rolled when I pulled the crown and wound it past midnight. A few Elgins (one was a "Lord Elgin"). A Bimesa. A few Hamiltons. One Timex "Electric". Other than the Omega in the post above, and the Gruen, I don't know which other ones work. Any of them worth taking to a local repair shop?

You’ll have more feedback if you created a new thread in the vintage omega section. This thread doesn’t get a ton of traffic. If you’re up to it, you’ll also want to take the case back off and post a pic of what is stamped on the inside along with a pic of the movement. You can have a watch maker help you, if you don’t have the capability to do it yourself. All the info you’ll need is inside that caseback 👍

Thanks Andy Dwyer - I will get on that. Any tips on finding a competent and trust-worthy watch maker? I live in Orange County CA in case you know of anyone local?

Just so happens that I do know of someone. I’m from SoCal not too far from the OC. I have not used these guys but several on the forum have and have spoken highly of them.

Great, I will connect with them. I've been in San Clemente since 2009, but after moving to sunny SoCal from Massachusetts in 1996 I have previously lived in Playa del Rey and Manhattan Beach. Where's your home here in SoCal?

Hey ScB, I went over to Jostmar this afternoon and they were great. The guy I spoke with, Michael, said it’s for-sure authentic. He took the case back off for me and I got some pictures. Unfortunately my phone wasn’t being cooperative so the pix aren’t totally clear, but I did see what appeared to be a SN 24,XXX,XXX. Michael said he thinks it was probably manufactured in the 60’s. I can select the clearer pictures and post on a new thread in “Vintage” per your recommendation, but I gotta sort through and find the least-blurry ones. I noticed that people will only reveal the first 2 or 3 digits of a SN, so I just followed-suit on that. Should I cover up the SN in the pictures of the inside when I post them here? I also noticed a couple of numbers on the inside of the case back: “KL(4-digits)” and “K(5-digits)”; do these numbers mean anything?

Any comments on whether this watch is legit? Not sure if there's something wrong with this 123.20.38.22.02.001 - perhaps a defect I'm not seeing or telltale signs of being fake. I was thinking bad polishing or just plain fake.
