The watch I bid on was advertised & photographed to appear as a regular sized watch, plus as a Seamaster.

I really do disagree here. But it does'nt really matter what I think. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get things solved with the auction house. I really mean this. 馃憤

Sort of curious how much money we are talking about, which is really the only thing that should matter here. Never understood going crazy making claims and complaints about small potatoes. Not worth it.

sounds like the size is really the issue, since the absence of seamaster didn鈥檛 bother the op until he saw the watch was small.

I couldn't agree more. We all get zapped once in a while and you got to roll with the punches and move on.

To quote sage advice I got from a Jerome ave. Bronx vehicle wholesaler who was a member of one of the 5 families in NY..."We're all big boys now so take your f蠀cking like a man" 馃榿

I will not take your reply as an insult, because I do not really care what the pretentious people say or think nor live by your "sage" rule.

Plus, you might have had the experience of "taking a Fu**ing from a man"

I rather not, if you don't mind. But if that rocks your boat, go for it!

"Sage Advice!" wow, impressive!
Maybe you are confused between the difference between accepting, or I hazard to guess more likely not capable of standing up to those moments when, to quote your "subtle words: take your f蠀cking LIKE A MAN", are just bullies who will very likely be "F***** Up by assuming they have taken on easy mark.

The world, Dear fred, is full of people who accept being, to use your fine vocabulary once more: "Fu***d" & being beaten because it is always easier to walk away from a bully or a bigger entity or just because "Mommy, it's just too hard!"

So thank for your inspiring & deep wisdom. However I rather live by my own rule.
"If it's wrong, then it is WRONG & if you accept the things that are TOO HARD to handle or too big to beat, then climb back in your cot & suck on a teat!"
Because life is not about the, quoting you again: "the TOUGH guys from of one of the 5 families in NY" (I am impressed!) who are so scary that you piss yourself & run away.
It is about venturing & adventuring & when it gets to getting beat, then go down fighting, not running away like a Pu**y!
Thank You though, good to get to know you...

oh man...if you want to waste your life righting every wrong you experience then you haven't been around the block too many times. As I recall you even mentioned your own wife told you to let it go. So...no need to take my amusing anecdote personal and start calling me names. Do whatever you want over your silly chump-change watch deal.

The tone & language of your posts, including this last one, are both unnecessary & inappropriate. If you cannot see that then perhaps others should comment. I have done nothing more than ask for advice, explain the situation, admit my errors & avoided personal commentary, especially because i am new to this Forum. You on the other hand have taken it to a level both childish & surly.
"Waste my life righting every wrong" Really? How so? & if that is the case, does this change your life?
"Haven't been round the block too many times?" So you know me & my history? Have I suggested anything about myself other than the most basic facts that I am a watch collector, know little about Omega, am asking for expert advice, & am a beekeeper (since retiring from a business I have not mentioned or a history/country I have not stated)
You consider using the foulest language on a PUBLIC forum to be AMUSING?
Pull your head in Mate & show some decorum.

You bid and were the highest bidder. You paid for a watch you didn't really want, and now you want your bank to take responsibility?
Really? Time to man up and shut up.

have you even read your profane previous reply to me? My original post was an amusing tongue-in-cheek example of how to handle getting zapped on a deal. I even posted a smiley on it. Chill out dude.

that's cute. Are you now the self-appointed arbiter to my posts? Until i hear from staff that my original amusing post in this thread was somehow out of line you might not want to play moderator for a day.

This thread is about something far more profound than whether one guy got mugged over a cheap watch. Its not about the money. It鈥檚 about how important justice and right behaviour is. To some people it鈥檚 more important to roll with the ups and downs of life and move on. They are pragmatic people who probably value their time over justice. They probably accept that the world is full of people trying to knock them and the game of life is to avoid being knocked as much as possible, but when they do get knocked the key is to get up and move on. For others, and I guess the OP falls into this category, living in a world where cheats are not allowed to get away with their behaviour is important and they will not be concerned about the time they use up trying to bring the cheaters to justice Even for the price of a cheap watch.

These two types don鈥檛 easily understand each other because they don鈥檛 look at the world through the same lens. Personally, I鈥檓 with the OP. I want to live in a world where people can trust each other, and people who behave in an untrustworthy manner should be made to right their wrong.

I get there are others on this thread who don鈥檛 see the world that way and if they were the OP they鈥檇 accept the situation, maybe look for a learning opportunity, and move on. That鈥檚 an equally appropriate response, but those people will probably never fully persuade me that their approach is the best one, and I doubt I could persuade those people my approach is best.

What鈥檚 important is to be able to appreciate each other, and perhaps in this case, just answer the original question rather than try to advise the person on whether they have cause for complaint.

Quite possibly this will be outcome, which is why I previously posted that IMHO my chances were 50/50.
I do not dispute what you have written here: "You bid and were the highest bidder. You paid for a watch you didn't really want, and now you want your bank to take responsibility?" CORRECT. That is not my argument dennis.
My argument is that what I bid on & subsequently won, was NOT what was listed/advertised/promoted.
So therefore there is a legitimate argument as to who is responsible.
As far as " Man Up" : I did.
How so? I went in & PAID for the item I bid on. I could have just not paid for it & left it hanging.
Shut Up: I certainly will not, until I receive the goods I was promised & paid for.
Now please feel free to give my response the same amount of balance as I have yours...

I do not need a moderator to jump in here fred, either to protect me or you.
I am quite chilled out, believe me.
You fred, IMHO, just could use some thought processes between your brain & your index finger/s as they hit your keyboard

@Engee

I appreciate your post, but there is another clear undercurrent in this thread. Which is that most of us don鈥檛 really believe the OP was wronged or cheated TBH. He just made a bad buy and wants to get out of it. And to do so he鈥檚 making a lot of claims about fraud and mistreatment, but most of us aren鈥檛 really buying it. I don鈥檛 think he鈥檚 lying, more just trying to justify his behavior, and I鈥檓 sure he鈥檚 totally convinced himself that he is in the right. Unless the auction house actually said the watch was a different size than it actually is, then it鈥檚 not their fault he didn鈥檛 ask the size. Maybe they made a mistake with the Seamaster claim, but the watch didn鈥檛 say seamaster on the dial, so I don鈥檛 think the OP really cared about that. It鈥檚 a red herring. He鈥檚 just using it as a excuse to void the sale after the fact because he didn鈥檛 like the size. Just take a look at the watch, and I think you will agree that one immediately sees it has little more than scrap value. People come on here every day and get told they made a bad buy. At least it was a relatively cheap one, and probably a legit Omega, unlike some.

Members tried to be supportive but it鈥檚 gone a little far. Some of his claims are a bit silly. How do you photograph a watch to look like a full size watch. Is there a photo next to a fake ruler? Come on. I think it鈥檚 obvious what鈥檚 going on here. If anyone doesn鈥檛 agree, feel free to sell the OP a watch. Have fun with that.

This is a very much deeper response than I would even try to attempt & I sincerely thank you. In my previous lives I have done quite a few different things. I think I have mentioned that i am not out to portray myself as something more than just an individual who thinks in tha=e way you have so eloquently stated, yet that does not mean I am trying to claim in self-righteous soul resides in me. Just that's me. Along with a huge proportion of like minded persons.
It is not that I am RIGHT & they are WRONG.
I know I have faulted on this transaction.
It's the rest of the deal that really does not need to be regurgitated over & over.
So How About We do what you suggest:
Accept that some of us will fight back, no matter whether it is "Tilting at Windmills"
While others will be pragmatic & let it go & accept that they got screwed & survived for another battle.

Can I thank you all again?
Even you fred!

That is your problem, not the auction house's or your bank's.
How could you possibly believe this in an age where we are all purchasing items online? Whether at online auctions, eBay, Amazon or the local electronics store?
So if I were to buy a classic car online that stated it was a 3000 Austin Healey 6 cylinder 100-6.
At Auction, which is common & because many are in the US, people from other countries often bid/buy these.

Yet after paying, let's for this example just say the deposit of 10%, I have the vehicle checked by my mechanic & find it has a different engine or an incorrect chassis number to the auction house's promotion.
Then you are saying "tough luck" you lost your deposit, or worse, the entire amount of the price I just sent via a cash transaction?

Impossible!
