Is this the new Speedmaster?

As an update to the 3861 I picked up on February 5, my watch stopped running almost exactly 48 hours after first winding it and wearing it. On February 7, I fully wound my Speedy in the morning as usual. I was using the chronograph in the afternoon and at 5:34 PM I stopped the chronograph after it ran for 1.5 hours and reset it. I looked a couple minutes later and realized it was no longer running. I turned the crown until it was completely wound again which took less than 10 turns. It still wasn’t running. I pulled the crown out and pushed it back in. I then tried activating the chronograph but nothing moved.

I stopped by my local AD to drop off the watch the next day. They said they’ll be sending it to the Miami service center to be evaluated from there. Other than this experience I was very thoroughly satisfied with my new 3861. I really enjoyed the +2 seconds/day accuracy and literally everything else about it. I’m hoping it comes back soon enough.

And no, don’t believe everything you see on the internet about the case or bracelet being too sharp. 😀

Does anyone know the product number for the brushed bracelet on the Hesalite 3861? I'm considering buying that bracelet for my sapphire. I like the polished links, but it makes it a bit dressy for my taste.

I would also appreciate the part number for the nylon strap that comes with the hesalite 3861. Thinking about ordering it for warmer weather.

Looks great. Seems like Omega is shipping the sapphires slower to the boutiques than the hesalite.

According to the boutique in my area, they have received 6 Sapphire models all pre-sold before they arrived around launch time. I asked for a call when a Hesalite shows up, got the call a couple weeks later, they had one Hesalite on bracelet and one on the strap. I went in immediately, took 5 seconds to look and fell for it instantly. They said I was the first Hesalite customer. It hasn't been off my wrist since (except to sleep).

Checked in with my OB today, ans it seems that after the initial batch that was shipped to support product launch, watches are now only slowly trickling in, especially the ones on bracelet.

Is that your experience as well?

Yup

I’m 24 hours in with my sapphire and I have to say Omega outdid themselves. Both Rolex and Omega updated their classics this past year. I think Omega won.

I love sharp edges on a watch.
In fact I enjoy running my finger under the sharp edge of my new EW 321.
I've tried the new Speedys at my local OB and they felt real good.
I guess we are all different.

So basically it is an overreaction and clickbait lol

Does anyone notice the minute hand on the new speedy is very slightly curved? I think this was intentional, but my understanding is the curved minute hand is not curved on some more recent models.

Here's the thing. Trying the 3861 on at the OB is one thing. But it isn't sized and as well all know, fitment is based on a sized versus unsized bracelet. And nobody who tried it on at the OB without having it sized will know if they will have the "nasty notch" issue where they are on the outer micro adjust hole and have their bracelet looking like this:

So personally, I would disregard any comments of someone who tried on an unsized Speedy and focus on the commentary from people who wore a sized Speedy to see if they had issues with sharpness as it is also something that you feel after an extended period of time wearing not just putting it on for a few minutes and taking it off.

I saw one in real for the first time on Friday night. I was staying at the hotel on the airside portion of the departures hall in Istanbul Airport, so I had lots of free time. I was in the Omega Boutique and they had an 1861 and 3861 side by side in the case under the light. It was like looking at two beautiful sisters, one somewhat older than the other but with similar features and both gorgeous.

The nice chaps told me they had a Snoopy but somebody had purchased it the day before.

I'm torn on the new Speedy. I love the looks, the master chronometer status and the smaller linked bracelet. But I had to do the adjustable clasp modification on my 1861 Speedy to make it fit. Now its always perfect on my wrist and I hate to lose that. Anyone hear of any adjustable clasps that fit the new bracelets? Or is it even needed with the smaller links on the new bracelet? Thanks

Those who have tried the old and new and struggled to find a good fit with the old bracelet, how are you finding the new one in comparison ?

I actually find the new bracelet fits better - the smaller links help it conform to the wrist more IMO. The previous version, which I own, feels a lot more chunky and less sleek, which wasn’t a bonus for my small wrists

Do the smaller links almost act as a half link, therefore finding the correct fit easier ?

Yes!
