The rumours of the 1861 being replaced have been circulating since last years launch of the 3861 movement.

The images leaked of the variants (to-date), are just that, leaked. Omega haven't made any official announcements.

No announcement from Omega that the current 1861 is discontinued and they are still available on their e-commerce sites in most places, many boutiques still have them in stock. So there is no firm date when the upgraded model may appear.....next week, next month, six months, twelve months, no one knows other than Omega honchos, and they aren't talking.

All rumors at this point, but on WUS, a poster who just bought the current hesalite version says that the AD told them that it had received a letter with the last shipment just before Christmas stating there would be no more 1861 shipments.

^...yeah well in these covid times and weird AD watch times where you never actually see a watch in an AD window anymore and the only way you get a chance to look at a half decent new SS is on someone elses insta I'll believe it when I can actually physically lay my hands on one. Just sayin...

I would bet the new ones will land in January. The fact that the press release leaked means they have to be really close.

Anything using the 3861 will be put on hold with the Snoopy getting priority at the moment. This came from Omega head honcho in Australia.

Seems then that they would continue producing the current 1861, right? Did they not anticipate the interest in Snoopy? Covid was already impacting production so they must have known that production capacity was limited. Seems they started shutting down 1861 earlier than needed, unless it really isn't as restricted as is said.

I just picked up a hesalite (my first, after almost 13 years of longing : ) at the local AD in Ottawa. The salesperson told me that they would not be receiving any more 1861/1863s. I asked one of the other salespeople if they had heard from Omega when the new ones were coming in and they told me January/February (though that may very well have been pure conjecture on their part).

Conjecture? From a salesperson at an AD? Never. Honestly, the salespeople know squat but I suspect you'll see them coming out early next year.

Omega can walk and chew gum at the same time. Perhaps the Snoopy thing surprised them in its popularity but I doubt they have shut down all use of the 3861 except for the Snoopy watch, especially since it is supposed to be in production for 2-3 years at least. If the 1861 is really no longer in production they can't delay a replacement for the standard Speedmaster which is a far more important than Snoopy to Omega.

Seems like Omega won’t launch the new speedy in January as 1861’s are still pretty much available on their website.

None are for sale any longer, on the UK Omega site at least. The Moonwatch and FOIS are now contact a boutique only ie OOS. I can’t see any 1861 you can buy online direct.

Looks like they are still available in Germany online. I was a bit thrown by the “contact boutique” text at the bottom, but that is also shown for Aqua Terras and Globemasters here.

Sapphires are still available on the US site, but 'out of stock' does not mean that production has ended. We've seen this with many other models before...
