Is this the new Speedmaster?

That's good to hear. I really appreciate the 72 - 80 hours I get with my IWC. Makes a difference in terms of rotation and general trouble-freeness.
Whatever the powerreserve, I wind my watches every day to keep the gain/loss to a minimum. The Speedy and Mir are manual movements but the El Primero gets wound when I'm not wearing it so just a half minute extra out of my day. Call me crazy😝.

My Speedy is rated at approx 50 hrs but I normally get well over a 100 or sometimes 200 - I must admit I flunked at maths in school though...

I dont daily wind my watches if I'm not wearing them. They're wound once a month, just like starting a car in garage once a week to keep battery charged. There is no need to keep car running, for just in case you want to drive it one day.. just my 2 cents..

How do you like your El Primero when compared to a speedy?

I’ve been eyeing the 38mm El Primero for a few days online.

Every watch gets worn 1 day then is being rotated so not sitting longer than 2 days in the watchbox.

it's a perfect size for a 17cm wrist and very legible. Listening to the 5hz tickingrate is always a pleasure.

Anyways, back on topic. I read some posts on other forums that they think the used 1861 speedmasters will decline in value due to the new 3861 launch. I don't agree with this but apparently it's in the minds of some collectors.

Of course, they’re worthless now! Why post this rubbish? I and anyone else who is enjoying their Speedmaster 1861’s don’t give a monkeys about values. If you want an opinion it’s that prices will sky rocket for the 1861’s as they are the last ‘manned’ space flight models. And again, don’t care about value because I really enjoy wearing mine.

Dude, would you mind chilling out? I don't get the emotive response. Did you miss the 'I don't agree with this' part? Take a chill pill.

When the new 3116262748373638 with the black suitcase and screw bracelet for a extra $600 came out everyone wanted the 3570 and they went up 😗 (to basically the same price so a $600 increase)

This new one has a wording change (negative for some) a few things in the movement that do really stuff all (call it even) $1000 + more (that’s a negative)
Basically there is nothing wrong with a 1861 and nothing really that makes the new watch worth $1000 more. (in my view)

So watch the 1861 watches increase a bit as some one that just bought one is not going to sell one for $800 less to buy a watch worth over $1000 more

This is a watch people that have held out, or new to Speedmasters is going to buy.

A lot of oooh aaah from members here but most aren’t the ones who are going to rush out to buy one.

Very good points. I also doubt that countless people will sell their 1861 speedmaster to get a 3861. You will most likely lose money on the transaction and for only marginal benefits imo. If you're new to the speedmaster my advice would be to get the 3861, but otherwise being 'locked in' with a 1861 is a really nice thing.

You're right. I have been dancing around the Moonwatch for ages without actually taking the plunge. I got a FOIS a couple of years ago, and was outbid on a couple of vintage Moonwatches since. The upshot is I still don't have a Speedy Pro. Now I am looking at a step dial, applied logo, and transparent case-back [EDIT - and DON] - as a 'hold out' I am very tempted to rush out for this one.

As an aside there was a full-set 3570 was on a local small add site this week for €2.5k. It was snapped up. I saw it on time, but decided against buying it. My point being I don't see the 1861 going out of range any time soon.

Most of you purists will probably gasp at this as if I am betraying you all - but I was so undecided on which version to buy until recently when I heard of the discontinuation of FOIS - I bought that and thought i will add a Pro either 1861 or 3861 to it once I decided between Hesalite and Sapphire - but I must admit I am so in love with the FOIS that I am not sure I need a Pro anymore, in the meantime I bought a couple of SeaMasters, and still thinking about a Pro - but the FOIS has filled the gap for now, I know it may not be many peoples cup of tea - but it really is a beautiful watch, perfect size and I do love the polished sword hands...

Do you have a Speedmaster Pro? Or are you just looking? I couldn’t be more chilled ! I’m enjoying my 1861 however speculation posts are a pita and re posting thoughts from people on other forums who either have crystal balls or know nothing is worthless drivel.

The FOIS is a beautiful watch, I can see it scratching the pro itch. In the end it's up to you, who knows how you'll feel a year from now.

Indeed, a cool thing for a new generation of Speedmaster fans... if I ever buy one more Speedmaster, it might be the " 50 years ASTP " 😉

Looks like it will not be announced this Tuesday 🙁
What made you believe it was going to get announced this Tuesday? Because of Speedy Tuesday? I am really clueless.
