Is this the new Speedmaster?

The best feature of the new ones is that Omega isn’t asking for full deposits for delivery between 2020 and 2023

I would love to have the new Hesalite, but not with a tapered bracelet like this. It’s even more tapered than the strap!?! 🙁 Who told Omega this would be en vogue?
Well I like it!

Can a 3861 movement be transplanted into the current-generation Hesalite Speedy Pro case?

If watches can be custom-ordered like configuring factory-build of a new car, I'd spec one with:

1) The current generation Hesalite Pro's case and bracelet. I'm not keen on the demure look of the new lugs, and tapered bracelet.
2) New 3861 movement
3) Step dial + chronograph seconds hand from the upcoming watch
4) Sapphire back from a 3572.50.

If all this is legit, the stepped dial is nice but that wording on the back is a big turn off. I’m happy I bought the old hesalite. For me it’s the last of the true Moon watches and I can swim with it 😉

I would have liked to see the dot over 90 bezel and stepped dial just added to the hesalite and then have them add a ceramic bezel, new movement, and whatever else they want to the sapphire model - but clearly it makes more sense to them from a business standpoint to upgrade all of them, I wonder if the hesalite sales will decline and more will go sapphire since this is basically a new watch and won’t have the same charm as the old one

I've grabbed these images;
left: current sapphire 311.30.42.30.01.006
middle: new sapphire 310.30.42.50.01.002
right: new hesalite 310.30.42.50.01.001

Aside from the obvious bracelet update, the pushers look a little shorter and “stubbier,” too. I believe this will make them a bit easier to use.

The taper of the edge of the case also seems slightly more pronounced.

The actual pusher part just looks shorter and exposes some of the pusher shaft. Never had a usage problem and for the last 40 plus years I don’t recall anyone having a problem. If anything the new ones will probably wobble more!

I've playing with the expected overlap of the seconds hand, and even when the logo will not be completely obscured by the seconds hand, it will be partially eclipsed:

Nice work!

Curious about your comment on being able to swim with a Speedy Pro. I thought they were all 50m depth rating which many would consider borderline to swim with. Are you just throwing caution to the wind or am I missing something? (I am new to SMP and still getting up to speed on what has/hasn't been offered over the years).

I know I generally do not go deeper than 50m when I am swimming...

Without getting into ir too much and not wishing to offend those that seem to make their own rules up.....it says water resistant to 50m. Yes that’s correct the watch is stated by the manufacturer to be depth rated at 50m. That means no water IN at a depth of 50m. I’ve not dived with mine yet but I will and when I do i’ll post a picture. I was swimming regularly with it before Covid. Also showered, washed the dishes, cleaned my motorcycles and devil may care walked in the rain with it. I’m sure however that plenty who don’t even own the watch but are however armchair experts will tell us all this is not possible. The new Speedy is rated at 50m, I guess Omega designers and watch makers know more than most of us and it needed no more. Those asking for more would probably be the ones NOT going in the water anyway. Sorry if I sound tired of this but it’s an old record! See my avatar for what I think 😉

Ok thanks. I understand there is a difference of opinion re: swimming with a 50m depth rating, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a variant that was rated to 100m.

my 3861 is also listed with 50 hours but I'm getting 64 hours. For a ZEP in my collection 50 > 57, Radiomir 72 > 92.

That's good to hear. I really appreciate the 72 - 80 hours I get with my IWC. Makes a difference in terms of rotation and general trouble-freeness.
