This was my dad's watch. I can't tell if it's authentic. I have no reason to think it's not, but when I googled to find it's value I didn't find another one exactly like it. what do you guys think?

Looks OK
70s /80s Quartz probably. All info is inside the case back of watch. ( Needs removal to get model# and serial # also to see if Quartz or mechanical (if it works with a wind or a bit of movement it’s probably mechanical) …..Ask a watchmaker to remove caseback)

Not in the best shape, or very collectable so value is sentimental mostly.

Gold platted which is worn in places.

Nice leather strap and a clean up and service will have you a watch for the next 5-7 years that will do you well.

I believe the reference number is 166.0141 with a cal. 750 automatic movement. Looks authentic. But as mentioned above, the monetary value is not very high.

Out of curiosity, are there any markings on the bracelet? "Duchess" maybe?

Looks like a 166.0118 automatic from early:mid 70’s.

Value is low, circa 250

If the watch is stopped and after you wind the crown the watch start is mechanical. If the watch is stopped and after you wear it for a while the watch start is automatic. I do not think is quartz (based on the fact is written automatic 😀 ) if is quartz you will have a problem because it means is a franken watch.

Actually it can’t be a 166.0118 as that’s date only and yours has day/date so perhaps @Olhenry56 is correct.

Are we avoiding the elephant in the room?

Unless it’s a franken, the dial actually tells us, well shouts, that it’s an ‘automatic’.

Just sayin’ 😉

So it’s a mechanical……Not a era I am well versed in looks like…..

Wouldn’t have been many years after that dial was pressed they were throwing Quartz movements in everything……😉

As linked above it’s a Ref 166.0141 with Cal 750. I call them barcode dial Day-Dates and they’re part of the international collection but use recycled Geneve cases.

I’ve got a partially written article on these that’ll be up soon but here are some of the variants.

Thank you so much. So, you are saying this IS likely an authentic Omega?

Thank you all. So sounds like some think it's authentic, some not? the watch band - the folded part - says Speidel. I read about how the second hand should stop - but I can't pull up the crown. It's stuck. I chipped two fingernails trying. Makes since it would be 70s or 80s. it was my dad's. he died in 2015 and it's been sitting in my drawer. He was 6'2," and I'm 5'3" and have a tiny wrist compared to his. I'd like to change the watch band, have it cleaned up and wear it. It's still running. I know nothing about watches, but it surprised me that it's still going without being "wound" - but I realize I may be lacking a lot of information! I know nothing about watches. How do you find a good person to take it to? I live in Colorado, btw.

DSIO - are you indicating that it is authentic? one reason I thought it might not be was because I read omega's are silent but when I hold it to my ear I hear a very quiet ticking.
