Hey guys. I’ve had this in a drawer for many many years, after purchasing it as-is on the cheap. I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on it, age, model name, etc. it does run, but the day wheel appears to be stuck. I was thinking of having it serviced. Thanks for anything you can share!

    Hi there,

The serial number on the movement dates the watch to 1970. The model is the reference number on the inside of the caseback (166.0141).

It appears to be in fairly good condition and should clean up nicely IMO. Hopefully, the blemishes seen in the first photo are on the crystal and not on the dial.

I’ve attached a photo of the model from an original catalogue.

    Cheers!

Wow! Thank you very much...it’s neat to see the original state from the ad. Unfortunately, the dial is missing some of the print, so I don’t know how perfect it can be. I think I’ll plan to have it done. What are the odds of finding a dial in good shape?

next to nil...it is quite unusual. I think this series made for a very short time at the start of the 70's. The case , whilst very distinctive for that era is also slightly unusual in the overall lines (I might of course be imagining this). Instruct your watch guy to give the dial a careful quick brush down with a dry brush and the inside of the crystal a good clean whilst he's doing a revision. The detailing missing between 10 and 11 isn't really that bad and overall patination is what most collectors will prefer to see over a brutally cleaned dial. After which, you'll have yourself a tidy vintage watch there which you will probably never see out in the wild. ..if you wanted to go a step further you could also get the case finish "rebrushed"but probably not worth it. Do you have the original bracelet to go with it?

No bracelet, unfortunately. I do like the looks of the black leather strap in the ad, though. I may shoot for that look. Thanks again for all the info, and for the nudge to restore.

I think these 70's models are great and really like the case shape, I have a couple of similar gold plated ones myself a Seamaster and Geneve. There were quite a few variations and they can usually be found at a reasonable price - though I haven't seen the dial on yours before.
