Is this 60s seamaster legit?

Apparently, you haven't sold so many seamasters to know what something is worth.

I said US $500-700. He says € 450-500.

Am I missing some point?

I was sarcastically quoting him. Unless the exchange rate changed substantially overnight, you said the same thing.

My interpretation was that he’s saying that he would offer 450-500 Euros (similar to the low end of your estimate). It he’d expect the price outstrip both of your offers in the current market.

So I wonder what was wrong with my estimate?
There's a difference what I, so that's me, would offer and what a first time buyer, or newish buyer, would pay for this watch.

Edit: So if the seller is sensible, he would reject my offer. 😉

The "price range" that was in focus and that I referred to was an appropriate selling price in my eyes. This taking into consideration the strong and weak points of the watch.

It is indeed a 34mm. In your opinion, does it seem like a non-original movement?

No it doesn't, it looks to me as if the case has an integral spacer to house a movement of lesser diameter than the case. This is sometimes seen with eg movements that would normally go in a Ladymatic in a 34mm case. Since the 550 would normally go in a 34mm case, it is my assumption that this case is larger than that. I hope that is clear; it's the best expantation I can give.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Seems like I’m gonna let this one go because the seller’s asking for significantly more than Im comfortable spending based on the feedback!

Cheers!

Ah. For me personally that would be a pass.
I agree. I’m not really in a rush and this particular model isn’t what I’m specifically looking for, just thought it might be a good deal. Ideally, I’d want a waffle face 1951or earlier, so I’ll just keep saving up funds and wait for the right one!

Oh God, this thread didn't age well... 😁

It's not a jumbo size of course, and I was offered $3000 for that one. I said no thanks. 😁
