Is this 50ies Omega a redial? (+Wristshot)

It might be a second gen - the sunburst on the retaining ring isn't determinative - but the case is horribly polished regardless of which version it is.

Also, the lume on the markers and hands has aged in a way that I find really unattractive in person. If it is a second gen, it'll have a cal 10xx movement in it - which is a step down from the first gen movements. Not that they are terrible, just not as great as the movements used for the 1st gen.

Better to wait for a more attractive one IMO.

I see. I have informed the seller that I will stick with the first watch. Thank you.

I think the Omega from the 50ies looks great. The case is not pristine but it tels a story of its adventures. With a dial like that it still is very nice to wear I think. With the dynamic for me its a bit different. The case looks polished beyond recognition. The edge on the side is almost gone. The dial has seen better days but I have seen worse dynamics. This one would be a project watch and if the price is really really low/interesting it might be worth a go. Can anybody say of this is the right crown for the dynamic?

The watch arrived today. I gave it a quick hand polish and I must say that it looks stunning. Turns out it is actually rose gold. I am, however not quite sure if it is too formal for me. What do you guys think?

Hello,

With the last picture, I think this is a redial. At least, the Omega script is off (in particular the A).

I respectfully disagree. The resolution of the picture is poor and the issue you describe could be distortion caused by scratches in the crystal.

We would need to see it in person.

I am quite certain it is not. The script is being distorted by the crystal. Here is a pic of the dial without crystal.

You are right! It was the crital distortion. Funny how the two pics, with or without the cristal, are different in this case.

Wow, it does look different and now very clear with the dial without a crystal. Congrats on your purchase!

I really like this kind of dial. Mine (without subdial and with applied stuff) says hi!

I agree with you and would say it looks dressy, but I would say it can be dressed down depending on the strap. I wear mine often with a checkered shirt and this wool sweater and I think one can pull it off... 😉
