I recently spotted this and would like to know some other members opinions. It’s supposedly a French cased zenith dating from 1950 but I’m sceptical as it’s overall condition just seems to be too good. I’m not an expert on zenith but do want to purchase one for the collection so any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I have put a link to the listing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32508069...cdB7H7YQp-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The biggest issue is that the dial says Swiss Made and the 6 digit movement number means it was made in Besançon France at the factory there. So the dial does not belong with that movement. Otherwise condition is fine
Thanks for the reply and also the information regarding the dial. I tried comparing it to other models and couldn’t really find anything similar. It was at the top end of my budget and I really had my heart set on something original so I think I will hold back for now and continue my search
As the good ol' captain says the swiss made dial does not sit right with the french case. A lot of other options in the Zenith world for that budget.
it s a put together but from the period, imo. maybe for display so it did not have to be up to laws and standards regarding reading swiss made on the dial and being french made. conditionwise and curiositywise is fantastic. price on the extremely overpriced side tho
The moment I see it I thought it looked great but after hearing the information provided by some of the experienced members I’m happy I never pulled the trigger this time around.
