[rant] Doesn't anyone have Spider Sense anymore? How about Common Sense? This is EXACTLY why so many scammers exist - because there are so many of you who are so greedy for a deal that you're blind to the probability that you'll get robbed.

The same thing happened on a wine forum with a company called Premier Cru in California. A few of us could see how obvious of a scam it was, and one or two of us warned the members of the forum that they were going to get screwed, but we were called conspiracy theorists and tin foil hat wearers. It wasn't so funny when our warnings became true and hundreds of people lost thousands of dollars.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Stay away from Ebay. Yes, I know there is the occasional worthwhile deal there. But all the crap you have to swim through to find it isn't worth it, in my opinion.

 

That's because the fraudulent listing was pulled.

 

I imagine the link has been removed by eBay, I have just received an email confirming all our suspicions that it was a fraudulent seller. Money back in account now. Like I said, I feel £30 odd pounds was never really at risk.

As for me being greedy about a watch, I think this sentiment is misplaced, I think many of us here have taken a gamble on watches which we are not 100% sure about. It is the nature of the hobby.

 

I bet if a crate of watches fell off the back of a truck in Philly it wouldn't even hit the asphalt...

 

I certainly have taken a chance on a watch, but I was reasonably sure it wasn't stolen or fake, and the seller had references that meant something to me.

Then, when the watch turned out to be a complete POS, I sold it on Ebay!
